Looking forward to seeing Subban play in the West. And glad the Hawks will only have to dodge Weber's slapshots twice this season. ;)

Go Sharks! Be curious to see how they bounce back from the longer season and expectations.

Wonder how much more competitive Team USA would have looked with Matthews, Eichel, Gaudreau, Ekblad, etc. in the line-up. Not to mention Phil Kessel.

Re: NHL '16 - '17 Season Thread

Not a good showing, and the sports stations have been hyping the game tomorrow, how'd that work out. Hull and Chelios talking about how disappointed they are in the team and they have no idea why the US had such a poor showing, just flat hockey and never in it.

they should flip a coin and then no matter what comes up, dump Team NA :2

Disappointed Team North America didn't advance, watching McDavid, Matthews, Eichel, Gaudreau et al was the most entertaining part so far.

Only good part.....the possibility of seeing Pavel Datysuk play at least one more hockey game. One of the greatest two-way players of all-time. :2

At first I thought that said "The greatest", I was going to have to bust out the Orr card on you. :lr

I know pre-season means nothing, but I like where Bednar has the boys. Playing with purpose. Solid win tonight. (Just reading/updates)

While Odull Beckham Jr is have some kind of mental breakdown, fighting and losing to the kicking screen then throwing tantrums on the sidelines .. you have hockey players that are in the penalty box and are still cool enough to photobomb a little fan.

That's awesome. I'm excited to watch the Wild make the first round of the playoffs after an up and down season with troubles scoring as usual. But, it's still hockey.

Cute picture, but I still wanna punch Steve Ott.

Hawks prospects stepped up big time tonight against the Wings. A couple of them need to do it consistently for the Hawks to challenge for the Central.

Bah it was against the Senators, I would have been good for a hat trick against them. Hell even you could have scored at least once, Tom.

McDavid is unreal. I'd be shocked if he doesn't win the Art Ross this season, Derrek.

Backes and Marchand have some instant chemistry for the Bruins, it was impressive to watch.

When Brad first came up and was an instigator / pest he was good at it, I never could figure out why they would bench him for playing that game, I guess that's why.... he's actually a hell of a skater, has superior stick handling skills and a nice shot. He was really good in the Cup game recently and I can't believe he didn't get a little MVP chatter, at least some.

Rask on the other hand is still Rask.

I think they'll probably make the postseason but won't go anywhere. I think the Staal signing will help some, but they still don't have any pure scoring. Lots of playmakers, nobody to put it in the back of the net.

Jets pulled one out of the hat last night. Like the new kids a lot. Laine looks like a number 2 pick. Goalie was mediocre and the refs sucked badly.

Brief view of Mr and Mrs Nutcracker in row 2 in the crowd at the end of the game. Devilishly handsome chap with grey beard:

Nice, Neil!

Yeah, the Jets better not start relying on coming back from 3 and 4 goal deficits. ;)

So I have been trying to get into hockey for the last couple of years. It has been successful but I struggle with the rules, which affects my understanding for the game. I don't have friends that are into it where I am at.

How would I go about learning the rules for it so I can better understand the game?

So much talent offensively. Wheeler, Schiefle, now Laine and Ehlers, usually good stiff from Perreault. I think the defensive part of your D, and goaltending could be issues in making a playoff run.

John Gibson is really bad. He was ranked so high in preseason, I guess you could say he's a little slow getting out of the starting gate. Lost his first 3, 3.50+GAA and sub .900 save percentage. I wonder if they would trade him for Rask? :lr

Hossa becomes the 44th player in NHL history to score 500 goals.

And a quick look at the list makes it seem that only 8 others on the list won at least 3 Stanley Cups.

Nice goin' Hoss! :wnr :wnr :wnr

Another comeback from 4 goals down.
Wicked game by Laine - his first NHL hatrick.

A nice come-from-behind win for the Bruins. Marchand is just on fire; his goal shooting between the legs of the d-man was a thing of beauty.

Avs sit 3-1 with wins over Dallas, Pittsburgh & Tampa. We're 4 games in, so a grain of salt, but Bednar appears to be putting the boys in position to win games. Winning is better than losing.

Need more SOG.

Glad your club is playing well. Was beginning to miss the nice rivalry the Avs and Wild were working on.
