Storing Cigars in Tower Humidor

Ok, so a new tower question for everyone. My neighbor tells me that I must leave all my boxes opened in the humidor. If I did that it obviously will limit the amount of storage space I have as apposed to leaving the boxes closed and stacking them. Any input?

All the boxes in my large cabinet are closed. Your neighbor has no clue. ;)

Hmm, Does your neighbor smoke cigars? A quick review of some of the threads here will yield a wealth of information. NONE of which recommend storing boxes of cigars open. :sh

Can't play Tetris if they're closed. :D

Very true! And you can't store near as many!

Sounds like your neighbor's only experience with humidors, if he even has any, is with the display and walk-in humidors in cigar shops, where boxes are often left open for display and ease of customer access.

Your cigars will be just fine with the boxes closed in your humidor.

Its what I thought! Common sense says if the majority are closed in the shop they can stay closed in my cabinet.

The only difference is that it just takes longer to equalize the rh inside and for any gasses being released to exit with the lids shut. If you want to age, keeping the boxes sealed will slow the process. Opening the boxes will speed it up. But other than that, there's no reason to have to keep them open.

All mine are closed, would like to open some for display purposes, but no one comes over anyway, and it makes for less space, so closed they will stay :D
