DR Monte #2 Knock-Offs
So, a driver of mine just came back from a trip to the DR. Hands me, among other boxes. a box of Monte #2's labeled as if they came from west of Guantanamo. Anyone had any of these? They worth keeping or are they dog-rockets at best?
Inquiring n00b minds want to know... :D |
Re: DR Monte #2 Knock-Offs
Smoke one and find out.

Re: DR Monte #2 Knock-Offs
Been to the DR a dozen times and can't imagine a place with MORE fake Cuban cigars, especially Cohibas.
Only real Cubans I ever saw were on Boca Chica beach, near Santo Domingo at Darren's restaurant. last I heard, he split up with is Dominican wife whose father is a Colonel in the DR and he hasn't been seen since. Fish food would be my guess. Nice thing about the fakes are they are at least Dominican tobacco and when mixed with a few rum drinks, aren't that bad if there's nothing else to smoke. |

Wow, those look pretty awful.... not only are the bands horribly made and applied, the foots of the cigars are cut unevenly too.
PLUS they're eaten to shreds.... total disaster. :hn |

Bug Food!!!!!!

Re: DR Monte #2 Knock-Offs
wow, that is a grade a tragedy. The bands look very poorly MFG's. Who in their right mind would try and pass those off as authentic when they tried to sell them?

I'd like to see pictures of the box, too. There are a lot more ways to tell fakes by the boxes than by the cigars or bands. |
Re: DR Monte #2 Knock-Offs
If someone gave me a box of cigars that looked like that, I don't think real or fake would be the first thing that came to mind.:r:r

Re: DR Monte #2 Knock-Offs
About the only thing I see those being good for is kindling. May be cool to cut a few open see the working of the beetles.
Too bad. That has to be one of the worst jobs of faking bands I have ever seen. |
