Battlestar Galactica

New season starts up on this coming Friday (16). Anyone else here a fan? I can't get enough of this show.

Yeah, but then again they did plan for it to have a certain ending--and they're getting there with enough time to do it their way. Coulda been worse I guess.

I'm anxious for the new season to start. :D

So, who's the last Cylon?

And, will it matter at all in terms of the big picture, given how little the other four have affected anything?

Oh Yeah!!!:tu

Pretty much anything with the word "star" in the title catches my attention!!!

So you are the one who kept Star Search on tv:fl

I honestly can't get into the new one, I get that's what they wanted, but I rather enjoy the campy first one.

Yeah, they sorta made a big point fo the cylons, but haven't explained why they matter (or how they even happened to survive). I have to assume something in this season will explain all that hullabaloo--and obviously it can't be coincidence.

Probably the best as far as drama is concerned, though I guess that's arguable since I also watch Lost. As far as Science Fiction is concerned this show is king.

Yeah that was me...:r

Seriously, I think you have to forget about the old show completely to enjoy this one!!!

Remember the old show started to get really lame! Remeber:

I'm actually going to watch them all Friday as a little lead in. How long is each one, like 5 mins?

You can catch them on the site. They're 2-5 mins each. And they're very good.

:hmYeah, besides hearing music in their heads and killing Cally, their contribution has been contrived at best; they pointed Starbuck to the Viper with the direction to Earth, but that seems like such a weak plotline for four characters.

don't forget when they said Starbuck will lead them all to there demise

Re: Battlestar Galactica

I LOVE this show. It's so impressively well done with high production values, well written, and original as well. It also has just enough "weird" stylistic, moments to make it interesting and give it that artistic flair. I find the very best shows (IMO) rely on the quality of the writing. They have to be clever, but understandable, and have to know how to incorporate a balance of edgy drama, action, and wit. I find this show really does that and succeeds in drawing you into the story and making an emotional connection. Some scenes were so good I actually said, "Woah...." out loud. :D

On a side note, I hate the ads I see for the rest of the season on SPACE because they make it look like they give some things away. I am hoping they're not idiots and those are red herrings.

The site is pointing to Gaeta, which makes me suspicious.

If you believe that the most obvious answer is the right one, then it's Adama.

After all, Leoben never lied before, why think he was lying about that?

jitzy 01-16-2009 07:30 PM

Re: Battlestar Galactica

I would think the most obvious would be roslyn. Also I was looking on IMDB and it seams like ZAK Adama will be in this final season

Crazy. Ellen Tigh?

What does that say about Starbuck, though? If she died on Earth, you have to assume she resurrected...so is she a sixth Cylon?

Yeah it sort of takes all the wind out of the sails, at least in my opinion. The show originally had a really good debate going about the difference between fate and coincidence, and now it's pretty clear that Fate has won out in the BSG universe. I can't rationalize exactly why that episode left such a bad taste in my mouth but it definitely did haha...

She was killed when the resurrection ship still existed.

Dee blowing her brains out was as dark as it gets; Adama and Laura falling apart was a major downer too.

then where did she go none of the other cylons have seen her, also if it is earth and thats a big if, that there on and everyone on earth is a cylon that means there are millions of different models

Re: Battlestar Galactica

They are all cylons. :)

Humans died off 3600 or so years ago after we nuked each other on Earth in a war with cylons(Terminator anyone?). The thriving races on the 12 Colony planets are all higher forms of cylons who all want to become like their creators (other sci-fi movies with this theme) and then destroy their creators (even more sci-fi themes like Stargate SG1/Atlantis)

Really awesome series. I have loved it from the beginning and will be sad when it goes away. Looking forward to the next series...Caprica, which goes more political/down to earth and takes place during the 40 years of peace.

It really seems like they're going down the "everyone is a cylon" route which just seems like a cop out to me. Then again this show can make silly premises seem amazing...Caprica should be a cool show.

so.. was it 7 or 8 cylon models?
13 would be the numerical choice, being 13 colonies?

They said the 8th cylon was the artist "Daniel" and that Cavill screwed up it's DNA. So I'm guessing that it turned into a female--Starbuck.

That is what occurred to me as well, and Ellen Tigh did not know because she had implanted memories, so didn't know the 5 (6).

Minor point, but Daniel was suppose to be the 7th Cylon before Cavil killed the line. Then they made the Sharon model who is the 8th.

What is everyone's opinion of the final episode (not counting the other-side's POV)???

I think they wanted to make sure everyone felt like the series could still continue (saved face)! With so many flashbacks , flashforwards, and flashsideways the possibilities are endless!!!

Caprica (the series) looks interesting!
