Sourcing green coffee beans

I’m sure an old grease covers this, but I figured that I might be good to have an updated thread with current info. Where do you all like to source your green beans?

I know that Sweet Maria’s is popular. Where else have people had good experiences?

Getting a roaster for Christmas and excited to learn the new skill (and drink coffee that is more fresh than store bought).

Burman Coffee Traders is a good source I've used in the past.

I use Bodhi Leaf & Coffee
https://www.bodhileafcoffee.com/

One of the members here who lives near them got them to set up a 10% discount code for us, the code is "CIGARS"

Be careful what you wish for. I’m just starting to learn so good coffee is probably a little way down the road.

Seriously. I'm down. You'll need data.

I certainly don’t plan on making a business out of this, but once I get consistent I’ll welcome your input so I get to drink better coffee myself. :-)

Just an update. Got 5 pounds each of natural and washed yirgacheffe from Bodhi. Didn’t use the 10% coupon because the free shipping coupon got me a bigger discount. Should arrive next week.

David, I'd just try to go light first. Don't pressure yourself.
You can't uncook. You can always spin them some more. :tu

Personally I like Yirgacheff (and Peaberry) Medium Roast or below. More sweet and floral.
It's so good!!!

I've only ordered roasted beans from them, but they have green beans as well.

Same here, Nick.
Their beans have always been good at the worst, and excellent at their best.
I've only ever bought roasted beans from them, and they'll do whatever someone wants.
The 5 pound prices have been very fair for a lot of years.
I usually get 2-3 bags and blend till I get a really nice coffee.

So I’ve heard. I probably won’t roast anything for a couple of weeks. It’s goong to be negative 10 here tomorrow night and that means my garage will be pretty cold. I’ve beem doing a lot of reading and the guy I bought the roaster from showed me a few things (and we roasted some as well).

I just traded Adam some smokes so he'd buy me coffee.
That's how dedicated I am to standing in the cold.

What roaster did you get, David?

I got a hottop. Used, but supposedly lightly used. It looks pretty new still. Got a deal that I couldn’t pass up.

I'll go hunt it up...
Wow. Nice machines!!!
I really am excited for you, if you can't tell. :D

I cheat and get whole beans roasted. Unless we're camping. I roast green beans on the fire.
I like to tweak blends like Reverend Todd taught me.
I'd be happy to send you some stuff to try out to compare against if you'll let me.
I don't know how far you are in this adventure, but it's a slippery whore. :lr

I'd be happy to try anything you bang out just to give you an opinion.
A basket is plenty to taste and trial, that's how I test.

Gotta have a good pot. :tu

How much coffee do I owe you, brother? This is the first time in 3 months I've had a weekend off, things could be hazy...

$850. It’s the 2K+ version. More machine than I needed at this point but I figured I’d jump right in.

Ha! I actually just love old comedy bits. I don't care about that stuff, and even if I did, I'd lose my license and my job for touching it.
