Cremosa Cubana
Although I am not a big U2 fan, I always wanted to use Bono’s introduction of Sunday bloody Sunday on the live album ‘Under a blood red sky’ in one form or another and this Cremosa Cubana gave me the right opportunity. There’s been a lot of talk about this next cigar, maybe maybe too much talk. This cigar is not a dog rocket, this cigar is a Cremosa”.
On both Club Stogie and Cigar Asylum the Cremosa is a legend with a very bad reputation and so, some time ago I mentioned that I wanted to try one, to review it and to see if it was really the bad smoke people claim it is. Hardcz and Lenguamor took it upon themselves to send me the dreaded cigar, so instead of one I got a total of 4. http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/f...a/DSC01230.jpg The looks of this 5 x 50 robusto isn’t that bad. The Sumatra wrapper is oily with some light veins and the cigar comes in a cellophane wrapper. The top is a bit crooked though. The aroma is nice, manure and hay but after cutting the fear kicked in, should I really smoke it? It took another 15 minutes for me to get myself together and stick the cigar in my mouth. The predraw wasn’t that bad, hardly any flavor and a good draw. http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/f...a/DSC01231.jpg While lighting I notice a terrible smell, usually I like the aroma of a burning cigar but this is like setting some road kill on fire. Why do I do this to myself? Am I a masochist? I take a puff and taste a slight moldy flavor with a hint of leather. It’s not pleasant but not as bad as I expected. After a few more puffs I said to myself that the Cremosa isn’t half as bad as other reviewers told me it would be, oh boy, I got punished for that thought because after about an inch hell was released. The cigar gets a little sourish, like vinegar gone badly and it goes downhill from there. Do you know the flavor in the back of your throat right after you puked? Well, that is the flavor the Cremosa is giving me, and it makes me nauseous. http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/f...a/DSC01232.jpg I look at the cigar and notice some white bit in the mouth end. WTF? Why didn’t I notice it when I lit the cigar? I take a toothpick and get the bits out, to see what they are. They are little branches, probably from not preparing the tobacco leaf properly. http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/f...a/DSC01233.jpg After cleaning the mouthpiece I take a few more puffs and the Cremosa gets more acidulous by the second. I can’t take it anymore and put the cigar away. This is by far the worse cigar I have ever smoked. If I had to choose between a White Owl, Phillies or even a Lars Tetens gorillafinger or a Cremosa, I would leave the Cremosa where it is. http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/f...a/DSC01234.jpg Would I buy this cigar again? Hell no. I got 3 left, can someone please pm me Jon Caputo's addy so I can send him a nice sampler? Construction: 7 / 10 Draw: 7 / 10 Appearance: 7 / 10 Smoke & ash: 7 / 10 Burn: 6 / 10 Aroma (first part) 5 / 10 Aroma (middle part) 2 / 10 Aroma (last part) 2 / 10 |

I would like to see one slipped into a blind review... |
Re: Cremosa Cubana
You know, maybe your palette was off. It's possible. You should give it another try :r

Re: Cremosa Cubana
:r:r:r Excellent review, Its amazing how these can change from flavorless and smelly to absolutely disgusting in a matter of moments. Just when you start to think, "This isn't that bad", you get the Cremosa kick in the gut. :pu
But there is a chance you got a GOOD stick. I suggest you try another just to be sure!:r:r:r |

Re: Cremosa Cubana
Yay!!! I have 5 of these (thanks Dan!!!) thank goodness my brother smokes
dogrockets, flavored cigars etc. Worse than a gorillafinger Ferdinand? wow that must be nasty, but then again, you can wash the flavor of the cremosa away by smoking a gorillafinger. I am going to give this one a try today, might as well get it over with (keeping a promisse to Dan) Does this make the el monstruo taste good? :dr |

Re: Cremosa Cubana
Ha - we smoked one tonight... It wasn't near as bad as an Acid or the other fruity brands. I wouldn't buy one, but it beat a Philly.

I have seen him smoke a gorillafinger and an El Monstruo with a smile on his face, so I don't think he hates them ;) I am working up the courage to light one of these up, but don't want to ruine my whole sunday :hm |

Hah... I remember thinking this "stick" was OK when Darrell hit me with one. Yet, slowly but surely it started to suck and get acrid. Yet, I think people should take at least one puff. If anything; these dog-rockets make you appreciate all smokes. Even the so-so ones.

Re: Cremosa Cubana
OK...I just had one of these nastys this weekend. Dan sent it to me blind and said he'd tell me what it was after I smoked it.
So. I looked at the cigar pre cutting. Not a triple cap...not a CC. Decently constructed and very light color. Not a whole lot of scent to it. Cut cleanly with my Palio. Fist draws prelite were fairly bland...not much flavor at all. So after lighting it, I am bombarded with underfermented and grassy nastiness. The flavor was horrible. It was one of the worst, if not the worst cigars I've ever had. I decided to give it a go and hope that it would get better. Nope. Not at all. The flavor was purely rancid to me. Like I said...underfermented and like grass and hay. YUCK!!! I smoked between 1/3 and 1/2 of it before I had to pitch it. I didn't want to destroy my taste bud permanently. So in closing thanks but no thanks Dan for giving me the opportunity (!?!?!?!?!?!) to tryone of these legends (of ill repute). |
Re: Cremosa Cubana
I bought a 5'er of these off of Hardcz. That was a mistake. The cigar smelled like dog feces, and the taste was just as bad. Stay far away from these pieces of s***. I will bomb some people on here with the remaining 4, so watch out.

I heard Steve and Gary like them Dan :r

Re: Cremosa Cubana
You guys hit the nail on the head with these turds. For the first 1/2 inch you're thinking, these aren't THAT bad or they could be worse...
and that's when it happens. They get worse, much much worse. Dan brought a bunch of them to our monthy herf in Rochester, MI. That's where SAM's avatar pic was taken, about when his Cremosa hit the 1/2 in point. We all pitched them at the same time. The only thing worse than that Cremosa was the aroma from the Cherry bomb he lit up later. He just about cleared the room with that stench. We actually made him put it out. :) |

Re: Cremosa Cubana
Finally smoking one of these. Bobarian 'kindly' (notice the quotes) gifted me TWO of these, churchills no less. :r Its funny because, like the OP, it didn't start out so bad. The first few puffs I was thinking, "this is not good....but its not that bad". But slowly the bad flavor builds in your mouth. I was thinking "you should keep smoking to give it a fair shake." But then I kept noticing this bad flavor in my mouth building. :r And I want to put the cigar down, but like a bad movie, you sometimes want to see how bad it will get. Oh well, 3/4 of an inch is all I can stomach. Maybe I didn't get to the 'absolutely wretched' point, but at least I can say I have experienced all that is "CREMOSA".
