It's Been a Crazy Few Weeks...
 

My wife and I decided sometime back that we would like to retire in Florida.

About a month ago, my wife asked her manager if she could transfer to the company's Florida office. After thinking about it and discussing it with her manager (the organization VP) she told my wife yes. We decided to hop on it before they changed their minds :)

On August 7 we flew to Florida to start hunting for a place to live and lo and behold we found one in Clermont (~30 minutes from Disney World) and we close on the 30th. My wife starts working in the Apopka office on November 1st.

In the meantime, independent of all this we have been readying our Oregon home for sale so that we could downsize. We pushed it up a bit and It gets listed on September 1st.

We had vacation plans for Florida starting October 21st, but now that's our moving date.

This is all out of order from what it should be, but it's going to work out ok in the end :)

We have always lived on the west coast: 25 years in SoCal and 36 in Oregon, so this will be a big change for us, and we are really looking forward to It!

Good luck on the move, Michael. Atlantic Hurricane Season ends in November, so if you've never experienced one, you may have a chance! :D

The work on my Oregon house is 99.5% complete... need a new switch plate cover (has to have a cutout routed) and molding in our coat closet. Photographer comes this morning for the listing photos. It's listing on Friday and our realtor advised us to get out of dodge for the weekend, so we will be staying with friends and drinking all weekend :)

We close on our Florida home today.

Is starting to come together!

Our stuff is packed, the cars are loaded on the carrier, and we move into a hotel (the Shilo) tomorrow! We filled a little over half of the 26’ truck.

At least you moved to a good part of Florida! I grew up in S. Florida not too much of a fan, but with Boy Scouts we always went camping up near Apopka. Those were fun trips. There is some good natural springs and canoeing spots there.
