What sort of small item? If it is, say, liquid or "hazardous" in some way USPS is supposed to refuse acceptance.
Just sayin'. |

Some people have work accounts with UPS, some have more convienent pick up, and some just prefer UPS. Me, I use USPS exclusively.

True story. I once worked at a place that shipped out stuff UPS, and my job was taking internet and phone orders, processing, and dealing with customer service. One morning a customer placed a web order, and that afternoon called up screaming that she had not yet received delivery . . . of her yoga meditation pillow. :sl |

Re: UPS Rant......
UPS seems to have changed their delivery model to attempt to ship premium delivery times and artificially slows the cheapest rate to attempt to get you to upgrade for a faster delivery.
IMHO USPS is better for cheap and fast |

Cheap and fast, eh? Got her number?

Re: UPS Rant......
All shippers have issues. I had a USPS package leave the east coast, arrive in Kansas City (where I live), then shipped to Washington, south to Kentucky, back to the shippers state and finally back to KC. Nothing sucks more then waiting on a package you are excited about.
Recently I had a box coming and didn't know they shipped with a signature required. USPS leaves a note card but it says I have to wait 2 weekdays to pick it up. WTF? I live in a small town and drove around the neighborhood and found the USPS truck. Go figure 2 streets over in a small town and it is a different driver and route. This driver tells me all pacakges have to go back to a main post office before they will be dropped back at the local office. UPS on the other hand is on my street the same time every day. USPS is always cheaper and faster though. |
Re: UPS Rant......
Pro's and con's to both I guess, just wish it was faster.

Considering the volume of packages delivered every day by all the major carriers, I think that they all do an exceptional job. My preference is USPS because for me, they are generally cheaper and faster.

Re: UPS Rant......
USPS is horrible too. They "lost" a legal machine gun legally being shipped off to.have work.done on it. They also took 13 days to deliver something that was supposed to take 4 days

 The West Coast precursors to UPS did not deliver their first package in Oakland until 1919, and after mergers with others the East Coast company that finally called itself UPS didn't start in major cities until the '30s. Between 1940 and 1959 they acquired "common carrier" rights to deliver packages between addresses both public and private. Not until 1975 did they begin servicing all 48 contiguous states. FYI, I was born in 1951. President Eisenhower signed the Federal Aid Highway Act in 1956, which led to the building of our interstate system. Ya think maybe that had a little something to do with the growth of UPS? :D |
Re: UPS Rant......
So, the answer is no. You weren't.
You were just not serviced by them. |

All I ever hope for with any parcel service, is that this is NOT my delivery man:

Re: UPS Rant......
I should have taken a pic but I got home late from out of town. Received a cigar package I won from J Fuego today via USPS. The priority box was crushed and covered in dried mud front and back. Looked like someone played soccer with it in the rain and then rain it over with a bicycle. Seriously had some tread marks on it.
Opened it up and the 8 cigars inside were perfect. That is all that matters to me. I really lucked out. First time I ever received a package that mangled. |

driving over packages marked fragile is mandatory

Re: UPS Rant......
My experience, don't use UPS for international shipments.
Everything gets handed over to Customs and even if it is not a dutiable item you still get dinged for the taxes on declared value and 'handling / brokerage' fees. Good old USPS is the best. Your mileage may vary.... |
