Do you put humidifying devices in your TRAVEL humi

Just curious if anyone puts humidification devices in their travel humidors. I would suspect that some living in more arid environments would (or those resorting to long-term storage in a travel humi)

For the record, I don't if I'm out for a week or less.

p.s.... did a search and couldn't find anything definitive, but I'm curious as to what you do on the road

I always have, even on short trips - like to your house :ss

I guess that's not really necessary given our average climate.

If I am gone for less than a week, no.

Over a week, yes.

Usually just let the sticks do the work unless it is going to be a long trip, kind of like a dry box. :tu

I use Boveda packs in my travel cases always. When you travel in the arctic you could get stuck places for weeks... I don't like taking chances!

my small travel humi has a small humidifier. I fill it up with a small amount of distilled. Since a cigar rests right under it when the lid is closed I have to make sure to rest the humidifier on a paper towel for a few minutes to make sure no water will leak.

It depends on how long the trip is. I'll throw a humi puck in the cigar caddy for trips longer than a weekend.

For a few days, i don't use anything for humidification in the cigar caddy. Ive had a terrible time using the little sponge thing so now for longer trips I use a tube of beads.

In my 5 and 10 ct caddies, I use heartfelt humidity sheets.

In my 18 ct, I'll use sheets or a 1oz tube of heartfelt beads. My 18 ct. came with a boveda, but I have yet to open it.

I also have been known to use humi-care water pillows in a makeshift tupperdor.

I always use humidification even if it's just a night out. I usually use this device made my JRs which looks like a credit card but you soak it in distilled water and it acts like a humidifier. I just slide it on the side of the trays so all levels get some source of moisture.

Freezer bag with double ziplock. Less than a week in above 25% humidity and I don't worry about it.

:tpd:

I just got back from a 2 week trek thru the Caribbean for work - I got a real nice Pelican case set up recently and usually will take a pillow with me.

Re: Do you put humidifying devices in your TRAVEL

My travel humi is one of the smaller Pelicans, so a Boveda lives under the foam. Since it's all air tight, they last a long time in there. In fact, I'm still on the same pack. Should last 6-8 months at a shot, then I'll just replace it.

Re: Do you put humidifying devices in your TRAVEL

I used to be concerned with humidity in my pelican case but I tossed in one of digital hygros on one of my trips with ho humidification on one of my trips. It didnt change much at all over the 2 weeks. That made my mind up for me.

Re: Do you put humidifying devices in your TRAVEL

I usually do, and my travel 'dor is usually where I am smoking from -- rarely get to go straight from the home humi to the flame. I will touch up the internal humidifier with distilled for short trips, but I do notice that sometimes the sticks directly under that spot will occasionally have a wierd burn in the middle. I have always assumed that they get over-humidified during their time in the box.

I probably need to put in less H2O, or maybe just touch it up every other trip.

For a short time, few days, I use a cigar caddy with a little spongfe inside. For long time (>2-3 weeks) I use a jar with a sealing oring-lid it is perfect, for me.

Re: Do you put humidifying devices in your TRAVEL

Am I the only one who does this?: A day or so before I know I'm going to be on the road for a while, I'll grab the appropriate sized Otterbox, open it, and toss it in my humi. Just before I head out, I'll put a few cigars in it, close it up, and head out the door. It's my thought that sitting in the humi, the foam trays and the cheap foam puck acclimate to the more humid circulating air so that when I pull it out and close it up with the cigars in it, there's enough of that air coming out of the humi with it to keep my smokes in good shape for up to a few days. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but I've been happy with the resulting smokes for as many as four days using this method. If longer, I might toss in a water pillow or something.

Can't say as I have.

When I take trips over a long weekend, the cigars were fine.

If I'm going to be gone for a week or more I jusr bring a small 20 count humi on the trip in the car.

For a couple days I don't worry. I'm heading back to WI for a few weeks so yes I will add a humidity packet.

My 15-count Herf-A-Dor has a humidification device on the lid, but I've never charged it up.

my travel herfador has a small puck in it that I'll fill with beads or something so I just use that.

In Ohio there really isn't a need as long as it's only around a week or so. Now someplace like Arizona may be a different story.

Re: Do you put humidifying devices in your TRAVEL

I always do, because I usualy don't take the cigars out when I get home. I just leave a Boveda in there and I am always ready to go. There are cigars in there now that have been in there for a few months, and they still smoke just fine.

I do. But now that I think about it it's probably not needed for weekend trips. Old creature of habit I guess.

My larger 18-ct cigar caddies have a puck from cigarmony. My 2 and 5 cts don't have humidification but they are only used for a night out or maybe weekend trip.

Re: Do you put humidifying devices in your TRAVEL

I use a little homemade tube with 65% bead. Probably don't need to, but do it anyway. I think our problem in the South is more of a need to absorb excess humidity than to provide humidity. My $0.01.

I keep a boveda pack under all the foam in my X-treme. I've been going on one packet for about a year now because of the seal.

Re: Do you put humidifying devices in your TRAVEL

Yes always... I pretty much always have my 50 ct with me and I like to keep my sticks happy. So I bought 2 of the 1 oz 65% bead tubes from heartfelt and they work like a charm. I just stick one in the middle row and one in the top row of my foam and I can still carry 48 sticks if need be while keeping them in tip top shape! :D

I don't. I probably will though if I take a long trip.

I usually do if I'm going to be gone for more than two days in the winter and longer than a week in the summer.
