Rush Limbuaugh's recommendations

I agree with a lot of what he says and listen to his radio show. He advised listeners to check out his favorites.

I am not in agreement with him on this one.

Never even heard of this Charles The Great he speaks of....

Is Rush as "right" as he claims or have his senses left?

Re: Rush Limbuaugh's recommendations

Is there anyone he didn't name? How much did they pay him? I would think someone with his income would be smoking more premium sticks.

Re: Rush Limbuaugh's recommendations

He was talking about LFD Chisels the other day and was saying he pinches the head to smoke it, and said cutting the head ruins the cigar. that was new to me also.

:tpd:

I would guess he was paid to endorse this sampler that Finck Cigar Company is conveniently offering to sell you on the same page. Finck probably made the decision as to what would be in the sampler and likely wrote almost every word on that page.

Charles the Great and Lamb's Club are house blends for Finck Cigar Company. He's shilling for them and only names brands that they carry.

Expect to see Rush shilling for Cremosa any day now.

floydpink 12-13-2008 06:12 PM

Re: Rush Limbuaugh's recommendations

The first thing I thought, also, was that Rush was shilling.

The thing I can't understand is:

If they are paying him in cash, how much more does he need when he gets about 20 million a year I believe.

If they are paying him in cigars, he must actually smoke some.

Regardless of what he's getting to pimp the cigars or what pills he's popping, I'll keep listening to his show as it's a great way to pass my commute to work, and I agree with a lot of his political views, which I won't even begin to talk about in a cigar forum.

Maybe we could invite him to CA and get him in a newbie sampler trade.

Here's the skinny on our man Rush Limbaugh. I have played golf with him at the Palm Beach private golf course with some other "big tickets" who he tends to play with often. The only reason I got to play with him is because the friend I have his Dad is a real big ticket and Rush thinks it's a big treat to play with him. Anyway, everytime I was around this guy he is a complete narcissist and you'd think he'd tone it down when he's off the clock and not on his program. He loves Partagas #10 when he's golfing and he is the biggest windbag I have ever seen. He didn't know me from Adam but he assumed that since I was friends with the son and Dad that I was another big ticket,,,so for 18 holes he continues to size me up to see who I am, what I do, how much money I make, who I know,,,blah blah blah.

If there was a question while we're all playing he knows every answer to any question we would talk about. He knows everything about sports since he was the announcer for the Chiefs way back,,he knows Carl Peterson very well,,blah blah blah. This guy for 4 hours talked non stop about himself and whenever possible I would hit my ball in the other direction just to keep away from him. Rush Limbaugh is the biggest windbag I have ever been around,,,period!!

If anyone else calls Rush a windbag, I'm gonna get really mad.:fl

Oh wait, I already knew he was and think that's the reason he's so popular.

Now Jim Carey, that guy sure acted funny and made a lot of funny faces last time I was around him, but kept trying to push Taboos into my hand!!!

On his show he comes across as the complete opposite of narcissitic. He seems to have a good heart and great understanding of many things.

Rush came in second in a survey to determine the most narcissistic pundit (Savage came in first). Course, with these "entertainers", everything is in the eye of the beholder. He does proudly smoke cigars .... which is a good thing!

This is turning into the thread I posted on CS when Rush was interviewed about cigars. Naturally, cigars were secondary to the remarks in the thread! I personally like what I like, and pay more attention to the reviews here than in Rush's recommendations. Remember that taste is taste- there are some that like Cremosas or they wouldn't be making them anymore!

►Cohiba. The Dominican version of the popular Cuban brand, these are the cream of the crop – maybe the best quality cigars available in the United States. The Cohiba Black Label has an even fuller, richer taste than the original.

►Excalibur. The super-premium Hoyo de Monterrey brand, these more full-bodied cigars are exceptional in every sense – taste, construction and burn. Hard to beat.

►H. Upmann. The brand has been around forever, but you have to try the new H. UpmannVintage Cameroon. The perfect mid-day smoke to enjoy while listening to me on the radio!

►Lamb’s Club. Another of those smaller brands, this Dominican is made with Cameroon wrapper and Cuban seed Dominican long filler. Keep this one a secret among my readers – if too many people find out about it we’ll never be able to get enough of them!

►Macanudo Cafe. The #1 selling premium cigar brand in the world, these cigars are very mild. Also available in 2 other versions, the richer tasting Macanudo Maduro and the even more full flavored Macanudo Robust.

►Montecristo. One of the most recognized brands in the world, these exquisite cigars are medium bodied and exceptionally well made. To treat yourself to a fantastic smoke, try the hearty Montecristo White.

Gasp! Rush is.... WRONG! Again and again and again... Anyone who lets him do their cigar thinking for them is headed for... whatever. Hearty Monte Whites? Macanudos? Dominican Cohibas "top of the heap?" Can't find Fuentes? Don Pepin doesn't make the Top 10 and Excalber does?

Just because folks recognize that blowhard Limbaugh for what he is, does not speak to one's political tendenceis.

About as ignorant as the people putting him down. The majority of people that put Rush down do not listen to him on a daily basis. Please tell me what Rush says that you disagree with.

Rush Limbaugh is the leader of conservatism. Most people that disagree with him are liberals.

Be glad to.

I disagree with his pomposity when it comes to cigars. And that is what I posted. Please read the thread carefully. You do know what a cigar is don't you? Or are you here for a different agenda?

If I listened to Rush on a daily basis, I would have jammed a screwdriver in my ear long ago. And, unless you know the people here, don't jump to conclusions before knowing the facts about them.

Peter, Rush obviously has an on-air personality that on first blush may drive many people off. At first he appears to be arrogant, but if you listen on a regular basis you would find he is anything but. He is confident in what he believes however, and that is a trait that turns many off because they do not have that confidence themselves. ( i am not referring to you or anyone here when I say that) Everyone has their own tastes and preferences whether it be cigars, entertainment, or politics. To me ignorance is a much more off-putting trait than arrogance and Rush is not ignorant. I agree with Rush's politics and find him very entertaining . I find the list of cigar recommendations referenced here to by and large not fit my tastes at all, but Rush is a conservative first, a capitalist second and as others have noted I believe the list is influenced by his capitalist arrangement with Finck. I have heard him say that his favorite cigar is actually the Partagas Lusitania, so he does have that going for him.

My post and windbag comments were, for the most part, in response to his cigar preferences and recommendations. I don't want to listen to his BS on cigars any more than I would want to hear a professional athlete's musings as a food critic or a Hollywood personality's take on politics.

Rush is undoubtedly an intelligent man. I agree with some of what he believes and disagree with some as well. I am put off by his arrogance. One can be intelligent and confident without being arrogant. IMO, Rush fails at this.
I would not consider him a leader by any stretch of the imagination. He is just one person who has the advantage of the limelight.

His has stated his favorite is a Partagas Lusitania? If he has said this, he changes his story for the audience just like any politician.
