TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
The TSA will start allowing passengers to carry small pocket knives and other common sporting goods on planes beginning April 25th...
Knives under 6cm or 2.36 inches, with non-locking blades, will be allowed to be carried aboard flights. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics...ves-on-planes/ |
Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
Golf clubs and hockey sticks can be carried on?
If I see this guy, I am getting off the plane. http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...psab9034a2.jpg |

Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
So now maybe they won't be confiscating cigar cutters?
|
Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
They were not supposed to be anyway. Cigar cutters were allowed already.
|
Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
It'd just be easier if they left it as is. Now it'll just be a big line of knuckleheads holding up the line with their centimeter too long knives, and there's no reason in the world they can't go in checked luggage.
Same goes with cigar cutters. We can go without till we get to our bags. That's why God gave us teeth. Granted, I'm not sure what sort of psychological terrorist advantage one will gain with a cigar cutter, but it's not a bad thing that planes are scrubbed sanitary of anything that might create a problem at 40,000 feet. |

I concur Scott. I only see this making more problems.

Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
Tom.... You can only bring two golf clubs aboard in the carry-on luggage. You will have to decide which two! Who carries on golf-clubs anyway????? I haven't seen an overhead bin wide enough to place most clubs in without folding the clubs in half, which I assume would greatly limit their usefulness!!!
Scott.... I agree 100%. This will just make more problems. Especially since there is already NO consistency between TSA agents from one airport to another. This will only make it worse. |
Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
Call me when my Constitutional rights are no longer null and void on a plane.

Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
Oh and the handle cannot be"molded". So basically a small Swiss Army knife only

Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
Finally, some common sense. The TSA needs to start profiling and forget the politeness. Time to call a spade a spade. Even better, they should let the airlines do their own security. TSA does not inspect passengers on buses or taxis...

I agree it should have just been left alone. This likely hit the table as a way to help with the TSB cutbacks, but whoever's idea it was, was quite a salesman.

Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
I wonder what they would do if I filled my carry-on bag with 700 knives of 2.36 inches or less.

Oh Hooters Air, how you are missed... no need for pocket knives onboard when there are DDs "protecting" the cockpit..
|
Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
So TSA will have pull out the ruler for every guy that brings a knife now just because it's allowed? Funny stuff
|
Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
Personally as someone who travels a lot and can only take carry on luggage it would be nice if I could take a full bottle of shampoo.
This will help the IceHogs save some money on luggage...I just wonder what the reaction will be when 25 of us get on the plane with sticks in hand :r |

Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
TSA = "THOUSANDS STANDING AROUND"
If someone pulls out their mean 2.36" Swiss Army Knife, starts a hockey game at 40,000', or breaks out in a flash mob on my plane I'm coming out of the cockpit with HK .40 USP a blazin'. Might be a little much, but nothing wrong with the sentiment, "peace through superior firepower". :tu |

Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
You can't bring a knife to Logan, TSA rule or not. No knives are allowed at an MA airport per state law. A state senator made a toilet paper law banning knives after 9/11 instead of trying to pass something useful. I doubt the state will remove or modify the law. So, if you are flyining in or out of Logan (BOS), leave the knife at home.

Re: TSA to allow small pocket knives on planes...
but God help you if you want to bring a liquid on board!
