Grilled cheese anyone?

Does anyone else do anything special when they make grilled cheese sandwiches or do they stick with the simple ones?

I usually add a bit of garlic to the melted butter I spread on the wheat bread and toss some diced up jalapenos in with the ham and cheddar cheese. When I get back I might try and add a thin slice of tomato in there too. Can't wait to cook for myself.

I like to put pretzels between the bread and cheese.

My favorite grilled cheese is taking some leftover french bread.

Take some olive oil and garlic salt, and spread it on the outer sides. Take a slice of mozzarella, some italian seasoning, and some slices of pepperoni or salami.

Grill that sucker up. oooohhhh momma.

Nice pics,,,looking at those put my cholesterol up about 50 points. Some of the recipes sounds pretty good as I use sourdough bread instead but now,,,may use these other recipes as well.

Use Mayo instead of butter and add a slice of tomato.

I like standard grilled ham and cheese. Nothing too fancy, simpler is a lot of times better. :2

Nothing fancy. Sometimes a slice or two of thin sliced ham or turkey, I also enjoy a patty melt with a thin burger patty and a few bacon slices. But a regular grilled cheese with melted butter brushed on white bread, not hard butter, is still the best :tu

:drI'd like to repeat the mayo trick.

Use good mayonnaise on the outside of the bread. Try Trader Joe's, or a hispanic brand.
It creates a great crispy crust on the outside. :dr

Jalepenos are a little too spicey for me, but good idea on the pepperoncini's.. .that sounds good!! nice and mild!

There are tons of different "High End" grilled cheeses that are all great. I try and make something new everyone now and again.

But if it's just a plain old Grilled Cheese, I like to throw Oregano on it. Especially if there is tomato soup. It just adds a little extra.

I like 'em plain, with tomato, with mustard, or with port wine cheese on it. But always, a good time.

Re: Grilled cheese anyone?

Some great sounding sandwiches that many of you produce....but, I'm pretty much down with the basic grilled cheese sandwich and in the winter, a nice bowl of either tomato or potato soup. About as fancy as I'll get with the sandwich is some pepper jack cheese instead of the standard American.
