Cremosa Cubana
From the Cigars Intl description:
Quote:
For all the disrespect that these cigars get, I was surprised at how well constructed it was. The wrapper looked fine, maybe a water mark or two. The label was kind of chintsy, off center printing. http://i38.tinypic.com/14poxe.jpg After a quick clip with the palio, and first light with the colibri. The wrapper split a little above the cut, but it didn't seem to cause any kind of draw issue. http://i37.tinypic.com/2mgwdxz.jpg Pretty straight burn all the way through. Just before this picture, it was a little crooked - but quickly self corrected. http://i33.tinypic.com/168c17r.jpg Pretty good volume of smoke all the way through. Tossed it soon after this last pic was taken. http://i34.tinypic.com/do3r5j.jpg Now for the flavour. I have to admit this wasn't the worst stogie I've ever tasted. I'm not sure exactly what stick that was (some type of Thomson), but this was very reminiscent. From the beginning there was a faint almost stale, musky taste with a hint of copper aftertaste. The stale taste never left or really developed into anything else, but the metallic flavour increased until it was pretty overpowering. Where this cigar really shines however, is the headache that it produced throughout. I actually had to walk to the coffee shop to get the taste out of my mouth. :( I also made the huge mistake of accidentally smoking a decent portion of it inside my house. I didn't really notice how bad it smelled until I got back from the coffee shop and walked inside. The lampe berger that I recently purchased is refusing to light in protest. So I have lit two candles to help with the smell. Summary: Appearance = 6 Construction = 7 Flavor = 2 Value = 2 Couldn't think of a better cigar to suffer through for my first CA review :) |
Re: Cremosa Cubana

The last one I smoked smelled like a wet dog, and tasted (I can only guess) like one too!
|
Re: Cremosa Cubana
You are a better man than I....I didn't make it an inch into the one and only I ever smoked....saying it tastes like cat piss is an insult to cat piss.

Re: Cremosa Cubana
Thank you for this fine review. It's important to know about sticks that might disappoint.
The cat piss comparison suggests ammonia, and these cigars should be aged for at least the lifetime of the cat. |

Funny that Dave game me the best cigar I ever smoked (Dunhill Cabinetta) as well as the worst (Cremosa Cubana). The Dunhill more than made up for the Cremosa. |

Re: Cremosa Cubana
I hope your palio was not ruined during the cutting of such a wonderfully Sh!tty stick.:ss

Re: Cremosa Cubana
Great review. :tu Darrell started a tradition that all new herfers with the BABOTL must smoke a Cremosa at their first herf. I actually found it to be just bland, though I only made it an inch and a half. Doesn't hold a candle to a Free Cuba though. That's a truly shitty stick. :ss

Re: Cremosa Cubana
It's good to know that folks do reviews of the crappier cigars too, at the very least it lets you know what to avoid or try last.
Thanks. |

Re: Cremosa Cubana
If you really want to see what you have smoked, grab an unsmoked one, and peel the wrapper and binder off, and check out the mutli-colored, multi-piece filler material!!! Not a pretty picture of what an inside of a cigar should look like!
|
Re: Cremosa Cubana
Tom, you are so lucky that you have the power to ban me if I send you a gorillafinger and I don't want to jeopardize my membership ;)

Re: Cremosa Cubana
Hah, I have a collection of the worst cigars ever produced for the sheer purpose of handouts to people. And I do mean collection.
Anyone cares to smoke them down and give some reviews, I'll be happy to send 4-5 over for trial. (those with artistic talents in writing comic reviews preferred :) ) |
Re: Cremosa Cubana
No thank you Silound, I already smoked Phillies and White Owls just for the review. I will pass on your offer.
|
Re: Cremosa Cubana
A while back someone gave me something called a Bances. It was bad.
|
Re: Cremosa Cubana
I saw these as a 2 fer on CI and I was thinkin of bombing people here on CA but I couldnt bring myself to do it and ruin their holidays

No White Owls or Phillies here. All of my cheapos are long filler handmade cigars. They're just cheap and crappy :) |

Awww hell....I'll bite. I am on vacation for 3 weeks starting Friday. I will smoke a few dog rockets and warn the noobs away from them. :ss EDIT: Be sure to send a Cremosa if you have one. Call it morbid curiousity, but I wanna try one. It's like somebody handing you a jar of rotten food and saying, "Smell this!"....you're gonna do it. Even though you know you shouldn't. |
