Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
I finally got a toolbox worth showing off. I've wanted an upright rolling toolbox since I bought my first 3 drawer portable. I finally found one for the right price and I picked it up today. The bottom one is a Craftsman 5 drawer, brand new, and the top is a "slightly" used Waterloo. Everything still works but you can tell it got a lot of use by a good car mechanic(lots of grease and oil in the top still)

Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
That's funny. I've had the same POS $49 toolbox for 34 years. Totally overloaded with tools that if I collected them all they wouldn't even fit. Every time I get a lame sticker from some part or place I stick it on. Many don't exist any more. so, for the comedy of it all:

Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
That's awesome. I hope I have that much stuff one day. I still have a lot of room left in my toolbox.

Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
A lot of room in your garage too. Something I will never have again.

Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
Mine is a POS Stanley. 2 wheels don't roll, so it is not much fun to move. I'd like to get a nice craftsman on ball bearings one of these days.

Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
Mine is a craftsman top and thebottom was a big 3 drawer cabinet that was meant to hold security tapes from a store i worked at - i just added wheels to it - works great

Moe, if you weren't already married, I would make a move on you. My wife said it's ok if there is a cannoli bribe involved.

Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
This is the new one and one of the old ones. That's back when it was still cold and I was building the shop. It's got happy stickers on the drawers and everything, now. :)

Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
Wish I had a nice box, but all my stuff is in like 5 different travel boxes. Need my own place before a solution like that. Doesnt stop me from having more tools then anyone else my age though.

Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
I pay a guy to not only have really big toolboxes, but to know how to use the tools within and to guarantee his results.
But that's just me. :tu |
Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
By my current jobs stand point my time is worth $11/hr as an intern. We could get frisky and assume I am worth 20/hr at a real job. A shop charges $75/hr minimum. I can do most everything, thus I am cheaper then a shop, even if I charge myself for the work.

Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
If I need to take time off work and it costs me $1000 but I can save $2500 off hiring someone the choice is obvious (buy more tools :D). I don't think I will ever have enough money to afford paying someone to work on my vehicles. The problem is that I'm pretty good at it myself.

Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
It's not just the raw cost; you have to factor in "Opportunity Cost" -- that is what else would you be doing if you were not fixing/reparing etc. For some the fixing/repairing is a hobby and I get that. For me, with few exceptions it is not.
I used to work on my car when I had my MINI. However, I let Toyota or a local mechanic work on my Highlander as I have better things to do... |

****.... I like this!!!
I'll have to snap a couple pics of mine next time I head to the shop. |
Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
El Cheapo one I've had for decades. Top box is a smaller slide-drawer I had first, just opened top of cabinet, and set the smaller one inside top. My shop isn't near as clean and clear as the others I see here! When weather cools some, I'll spend a couple of days on clean-up as I usually do that time of year!

Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
I dare not show the rest of my shop/garage. I think this thread is going to get me to add to my tool storage, a la Scott.

Re: Toolbox ****. Lets see 'em
I've wanted a toolbox like that for 20-some-odd years, guys. Man, does it make it nice to get jobs done. I could not possibly be more pleased.
I wanted a Kobalt stainless steel deal, but our Lowe's around here really has a lousy assortment. I didn't want to have them drag something in and not buy it, so I went with the Craftsman that was all set up and I could see. |
