Star Wars Clone Wars Series

I know there are some Star Wars fanatics here in the Asylum. Any fans of the Clone Wars CGI show on Cartoon Network? New episode begins tonight at 9pm.
I love this show!

man, i've been so scared of watching this show for fears of it destroying all star wars. Is it really that good?

I'm a big Star Wars fan but have not seen the Clone Wars Series for the same reason as Dooge.

It's tolerable. A little too "kiddie" for me, and not a big fan of the animation style. Do like the stories though, keep it on DVR to watch.

Although last weeks Jar-Jar focused episode was brutal to watch.

And yes, I was 11 when the original came out and saw it three times in July '77. yeah, I'm old...get off my lawn.:ss

I wondered how long it would be before you put down your millemium falcon miniature and looked at the board.;)

I'm a huge Stars Wars fan, but I heard bad things about the movie (it's already out on DVD and BR - not a good sign) and am afraid to watch the series for the same reasons stated above.

No, i've not seen it. I love me some Star Wars, but after the abomination of the Clone Wars movie (that Asoka character is worse than Jar Jar imho) I refuse to watch.

The soundtrack to the movie is a big letdown. No John Williams stuff in it.

As for Asoka, I'm not a big fan either. But she was created to a target audience of the age of 8yrs old and below. I can tolerate Asoka, but the rest of the show is great. Fight scenes are pretty good, and the detail in the backgrounds are well done too.

As was Jar Jar. Although at least Jar Jar was annoying in his own unique way. Asoka is pretty much an Anakin clone, only much more annoying. And from the previews i've seen she's in alot of the show so i'll pass I think.

I'm not a fan of the animation style either to be honest. Too blocky and stiff, the lightsaber duels don't look very good at all. Why they didn't just bring back Gendy Tartovsky and let him do more Clone Wars shorts is beyond me. I swear, those were better than any of the newer movies lol.

:tpd: Those were most excellent! Samurai Jack too! Gendy and his crew did some great work!

Karen Travis has done some good work lately. As I mentioned above, the Clone Wars shorts from a few years back are well worth a look if your a fan!

Yep, I like the Republic Commando series. That's Karen Travis at her best! Death Star was pretty good, different perspective on the whole planet killing space station thing. Unique book. I'd also recommend the the two Darth Bane books, excellent reading for sure!

What's Death Star about? (other than the Death Star, I'm not that ignorant).
Don't spoil it for me, but does it involve well-known characters?

If you really want me to destroy Star Wars for you, look up the Star Wars christmas special.

No. It tells the story of a couple of different normal people that work on board it.

read a lot of the books and I thought they were awesome.

Best one so far are the Darth bane books by Drew Karpyshyn. Very well written and a lot of up tempo story line.

Re: Star Wars Clone Wars Series

The best books for me were the old Timothy Zahn trilogy. They came out in the mid 90s I beleive. Read them when I was back in school.
Rouge Squadron series books that I've read are ok.
Labryinth of Evil and Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader were good ones. (Luceno authored both)

Dooge 12-07-2008 12:57 PM

Re: Star Wars Clone Wars Series

oh yeah TImothy Zahn books were good.

the darth bane books were good. the second one felt like it was rush in it writing though.

i just started death star so don't spoil anything. it's taken me this long as it just came out in paperback. lol

Dooge 12-07-2008 04:01 PM

yeah, the second was rushed imo. I think he admitted this somewhere but the 3rd book will be out in 2010

W/o spoiling anything from the book, what's the scoop on Darth Bane? I'm somewhat familiar w/ the character, but not much. Isn't he original Sith?

No, he's the guy who started the rule of two. Before that the Sith were an organization just like the Jedi.

I watched the old school Gendy Clone Wars cartoon this week. I must say that I liked his silent clone troopers much better. Loved the hand signals. Badass compared to the troopers in the new version.

funny you say that as the clone trooper suits are sound proof and they can talk to one another on their comes without anyone hearing them. So, I ask. Why would they need to use hand signals????:D
