Best ever Banana bread.

1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
2 medium bananas

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

2. In a large bowl, stir together the melted butter and sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla, mix well. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt, stir into the butter mixture until smooth. Finally, mix in the sour cream, walnuts and bananas. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.

3. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean. Cool loaf in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have had a lot of banana bread in my day and this is by far the best I have ever had. The sour cream is the secret ingredient here, it makes it so moist.

I also added a crust on top that is optional.

You just mix up 3 teaspoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and just spread it on top of the batter once it's in the loaf pan.

Enjoy fellas!

You could adjust the bananas, I have never tweaked the recipe before.

I suspect you might have to add a bit more flour so it's not doughy.

It's not a big deal. I wasn't criticizing you. Another member said the pic looked delicious. I was clarifying that it was a stock picture from a website.

I told you to lighten up based on your statement "Didn't know it was that big of deal. :sh"

I give up.

You know what, if you sliced this up warm right out of the oven, It would be awesome with some vanilla ice cream.

Re: Best ever Banana bread.

I can vouch for this recipe. I'm eating a slice right now, yum!

I ended up using 4 bananas as well as substituted pecans for the walnuts.

Confirmed for delicious.

Made this tonight; I stuck with the 2 bananas and the walnuts but added a 1/2 cup of blueberries. So simple. So delicious. What a great share.

Re: Best ever Banana bread.

Humbly submitted for your approval. My banana bread recipe for your consideration.

Banana Bread

Ingredients

1 cup light brown sugar
8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter room temperature
3 large brown eggs
5 ripe bananas
1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
1 - 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
½ cup chunky cinnamon or original chunky applesauce
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground Allspice
½ teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1 cup chopped walnuts
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Confectioner's sugar to dust the top

Preheat the oven to 310 degrees F.
( This temp. setting is for a Pampered Chef stonewear bundt cake pan. You will, of course, have to adjust the temp according to how your oven bakes. ) :tu
Coat a bundt cake pan liberally with non-stick cooking spray.
Cream the light brown sugar and unsalted butter in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
Add the brown eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
In a small bowl, mash the bananas with a fork.
Mix into the bananas the condensed milk, vanilla extract, applesauce, allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon.
In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Add the banana mixture to the creamed mixture and add the walnuts.
Stir until combined.
Add dry ingredients, mixing just until flour disappears.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow to cool to and remove from bundt pan as soon as it is safe. Allow to cool to room temperature. Top with confectioner's sugar and serve.

16 oz. all purpose flour
1 pair Nike shoes
1 pair Adidas running shorts
1 Mike Reno headband

Pour the flour all over yourself, put in 5K, and you have Run Cake. :)

I would prefer Leigh's Rum Yum Cake, but I ain't into jogging.

Well, I certainy didn't want anyone to think I was "polluting" a thread. The last time I checked this was a friendly information-sharing based site and not a competition. I was merely wishing to pass on to the other foodies interested another recipe. Apologies on offending your sense of propriety.
