Best Video Games of the Modern Era. What do you Recommend?
 

By Modern Era I mean N64, PS1, XBox, Dreamcast, and beyond. Super Mario 1, 2, 3, Metroid, Kid Icarus, PacMan, Galaga, Pole Position, Custer's Revenge, and etc. are all great, but I'm talking about games made in 1997 and beyond.I'm talking about the post-16 bit era. What do you recommend?

Good list Andy.

I would have to add Final Fantasy VII, Final Final Fantasy Tactics and Boarderlands.

The new Mario Brothers game for the Wii is also pretty slick.

Never heard of it. I assume it's either a precursor to Pitfall or a rip-off.
I'm not very well-versed in the Atari 2600 series, but I am VERY aware of the best in its library.

I should have added any Mario game other than the crappy Mario Hotel and the Mario is Missing type of crap.
New Super Mario Bros. for DS and Super Mario Bros. Wii are both great titles that I overlooked.

Though I rarely play video games anymore, this list cannot be complete without the best fighter game of all time (Marvel vs. Capcom 2) or best racing game of all time (Gran Turismo 5). Although not a console, Counter-Strike is still my favorite FPS of all time. While talking about blasts from the past, have to (quietly) tip my hat to Baldur's Gate 2. Lost waaaaaay too much time to that game in college. Must. Resist. Urge. :D

GT5?!?!?! Forza 4, is the bees knees, my friend.

The drifting in GT5 is bland, to me.

Forza 4 has a much better community to.

If anyone mentions HALO in this thread i will personally hunt you down and slap you silly with a trout.

Now thats over with im going to put my money on Fallout 1 and 2,DOOM,Wolfenstien,duke nukem 3d,morrowind/elder scrolls,Fallout 3,the mass effects and Bulletstorm (it took the duke and replaced him)

And eve is only good if you are a griefer so i damn well loved it always annoying the mining scum and protecting the veldspar from there hurtful mining lazors.

That game didn't have a learning curve. It was a learning cliff. It was easily one of the most brutal games I've ever seen.

And thank you to whoever added NFL Blitz for the N64. That game was ridiculous and awesome.
