Drunk Humidor
I got a we bit of a problem I have a 150 count humidor with a glass top.
well me and the wife was playing around and I spilled pumpkin Ale all over the top. and It did leak inside not a lot but some so I pulled all the sticks out bagged them and in the cooler they go. I know the wood around the glass inside is pretty wet. I told her it's OK dear this gives me the reason for the 500 count :r  so how do we fix this let it dry and hope for the best? can't really wash it where it is wet and I don't want pumpkin infused cigars that's for sure. thanks for your input :tu |
Re: Drunk Humidor
I suggest you let it dry out and start over. Once it is dry if it still smells of pumpkin it might be time for a new one. First thing is first, finish enjoying the rest of your birthday!!

Re: Drunk Humidor
I would take the glass out, clean it with Rubbing Alcohol, let it dry and reseal the glass with silicon. Just an idea.

--- Well, that blows goats... I found the thread, but all the photos are gone. http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=29667 Maybe Scott can dig up the photos and find the ones on how he removed the glued in strips without breaking the glass. |
Re: Drunk Humidor
Adam....why in the world would you blow a goat?? A sheep I would understand, that soft fur, those large sensuous eyes.....but a goat? That is just wrong.

It's your birthday. You and the wife are drinking and playing graba$$ around your humidor. You type about it on a cigar forum instead of escalating the horseplay? :tf |
Re: Drunk Humidor
we are on vacation :D and beside we are just getting started

Re: Drunk Humidor
Well quit typing and go play with your wife. Adams busy with the goats.

Re: Drunk Humidor
Wait, where did the goat come from?!?!?!
|
Re: Drunk Humidor
Scott brought it. Or was that the sheep?

Re: Drunk Humidor
Not I says Scott. Goats are nasty. Adam can have 'em.

Think of this as a blessing in disguise, Jason--if you hadn't spilled the beer, you would never have realized that your humidor was leaking like a sieve. |

Re: Drunk Humidor
um...I think everyone is missing the true opportunity here...
HAVE YOUR WIFE BUY IT! Obviously it is your wife's fault: the facts: 1. You were drinking, which she FORCED you to do! 2. She gave you that little twinkle in the eye look and said, "put your beer on your humidor and get over here big guy" *NOTE* you would never put a beer on your humidor, full of scrumptious cigars, without the influence of your wife and pumpkin ale!! 3. You started messing around, and the lumberjack of a man that you are caused you to toss your wife in the air and HER foot knocked it over...on purpose probably (she could have controlled that foot better! 4. You quickly became sober...its your cigars for christ sake! Analysis, I think she is either: 1. Wanting a divorce and doesn't want you to enjoy cigars. 2. She needed something to buy for you for Christmas, and it is part of her plan (I like this option better!) Either way, keep it in the coolidor and save your money for more cigars...give her the guilt trip! :banger |
Re: Drunk Humidor
Cole, are you married???? Have you not figured it out yet??? They are never wrong!!! You either heard them wrong and was mistaken or YOU did something to make them do what they did!!! Just remember the phrase "Yes Dear, it was my fault!!!"

Maybe that's what's wrong with my humi, it is a glass top, but the previous owner never had any problems, I am so depressed about my sticks hardening.

Re: Drunk Humidor
well it seams the press wood soaked up most of it and I don't think it has affected the cedar much so I will let it dry and in the process I will take it apart and seal it with silly con

Re: Drunk Humidor
So I tore apart my glass top 50 count yesterday to seal her up. There was only a drop or two of something around the glass (on 2 sides) so this thing was a leaky SOB I'm assuming. I tried to get some pics but the flash kept them from coming out clear. It's officially sealed up and was pretty easy to do. I used 100% silicone that had a minimal smell to it. Letting it cure out a little while longer, package said it takes 24 hours, going to give it a little longer.

Just :gary man. Glad you got things taken care of...Note to self, humidors do not have built in drink holders for a reason! |
Re: Drunk Humidor
Rinse the top under running water for a good while and dry it off. It'll be fine. :tu

Re: Drunk Humidor
well there was a time when I thought my humidor was a good little box.
now after what was said here I just got around to checking the glass tightness and sure enough you can wiggle the glass s.o.b. but also the seal is just crap there is a gap in the seal strip of almost a 1/16 that allows the 2 strips to move so no chance that will ever seal good. but what is making me mad is this humidor http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/...s/downsize.jpg was given to me was purchased for 5 dollars it has a nice swoosh sound when closing very nice seal. but now I know why I needed a oasis in a 150 count humi it was the only thing that could keep up with that leaky bastid |
Re: Drunk Humidor
Coolidor it is! All humidors look just as nice from the inside!!!!!!
