Mo Gets His 602nd Save
. . . and takes over sole possession from Trevor Hoffman for the record.
But still, he has but one RBI. Trade the piker! :r |
Re: Mo Gets His 602nd Save
Congrats Mariano!!! Greatest closer in MLB history.

Re: Mo Gets His 602nd Save
I thought I'd bounce this one back up to take note that Mo got his 625th last night against the O's down in Baltimore. In case you haven't noticed, the old man is 17 for 17 in save opportunities so far this year, with an astronomical ERA of 1.47.
"Astronomical??" Yeah . . . it's stellar. :r |
Re: Mo Gets His 602nd Save
He looks like he did back in the late 90s/early 00s...UNHITTABLE!!!!
|
Re: Mo Gets His 602nd Save
In case you missed it, Mo got his 650th save last night, which is a record that should stand for a little while. :D
And yeah, he still has the one career RBI too. :r |
Re: Mo Gets His 602nd Save
Congrats to him, and to Larry and Curly for the set-ups.

Let's not make this personal, fellas.
Generic trash talk is fine but personal barbs can turn ugly fast. |

OK with me:D

Re: Mo Gets His 602nd Save
Koji compared to a young Mo last night, which is funny because he's actually 38yrs old. :r
34 batters retired in a row, I suppose that would be the real comparison his nasty split-finger and 88 mph fastball. |

Re: Mo Gets His 602nd Save
Great ceremony for a great player at Fenway, after a long standing ovation, the Sox presented him with a painting, his number 42 that is put up on the green monster scoreboard when he pitched, the #42 seat from the original fenway seats, the pitching rubber from the visitors bullpen and a check from the owners for his foundation.
Then a ESPN video highlight and some "man on the street comments". |
Re: Mo Gets His 602nd Save
Very classy Boston!! :tu :tu

Re: Mo Gets His 602nd Save
Love Papi going out to meet him and walk him over and Dustin giving him a hug. Now let's just make sure they don't need to bring him in for the game, unless it's a blow out for the Sox and they just want to give him one last time on the Fenway mound.
After living in Boston for almost 20 yrs I can honestly say that I never heard a bad word about Mo, lots of "god damn it"s etc., but one of the classiest guys to play the game and ever Boston fan, ok ever REAL Boston fan, not the stupid college kids etc., respected the hell out of him. It's not like he's Arod or Joba or any of them, sure people talk **** about them but not about Mo, and to go further while we all know Jeter was a terrible defensive player, same for him, he might be selfish, but always a classy guy on the field, Captain Intangibles as it were. |
Re: Mo Gets His 602nd Save
Nice Mo walking to the Fenway bullpen (classy move to put him in even in a loss) and the fans clapping for him and were all reaching over and he stopped to shake hands with the Red Sox faithful.
Edit: First of all, we hope a loss, secondly he's just standing there in the pen chatting with the fans, nice. |
