Which Keurig to get?
I just went thru all 9 pages here and didn't find anything, so here goes.
My wife and I are in the market to get a Keurig coffee maker. She does travel some and it seems to be a waste to make a whole pot when in the morning when she is gone since at least half get spilled out :td. So I am asking for recommendations on which Keurig I should get? There seems to be about 7 different home models. Please help me decide!! :tu It appears that I will have fun trying out all the different varieties of coffee, but just want to make sure I get the right one. So suggest away!!! Thanks in advance for all your help! :tu |
Re: Which Keurig to get?
My wife bought the Elite and is happy with it. I have not used it, I just make less in the old drip or french press.

Re: Which Keurig to get?
Just picked up the Platinum yesterday. Seems to work fine. It was at Costco and kind of an impulse buy. Did no real research so probably no help other than I like it so far. Fires out a good cup of coffee in about 20 seconds with no cleanup.

Re: Which Keurig to get?
These are the three that I have used.
http://www.keurig.com/brewers/b3000se - This one is best if you are planning on hooking up to a water supply, that is how it works. We had this in my last office building and it was AWESOME. http://www.keurig.com/brewers/platinum-brewing-system - My parents have this one, It has a reservoir you have to fill up, and allows you to select the amount of water you want to use. http://www.keurig.com/brewers/deskpr...brewing_system - This is the one that is currently in my housing unit. It is the most simple, you fill your desired cup with with fresh water, pour it in the reservoir, and it makes that exact about of coffee. It is great for regular mugs and travel mugs. I hope this helps you select the one that best works for you and your wife. |
Re: Which Keurig to get?
This one.
is the one I have, and I love it. it doesn't store water in the unit but it has a lot less buttons and is pretty easy to operate. |
Re: Which Keurig to get?
Eric, I have the Platinum.
It's the way to go. I also have a Mini I keep on my desk at work, but wouldn't recommend it for home use if you drink a lot of coffee. If you drink only one cup in the morning you could get away with the mini. I've also had the Special edition and Elite and really think the Platinum is worth the extra cash. |
Re: Which Keurig to get?
My wife and I have had a Platinum (B70) for two years. No problems and we still love it.:D

Honestly they have one in the office, I'm not sure the model but it came with the additional filter that let's you use your own ground coffee. We all know I'm a coffee snob, but using that in a pinch with fresh ground coffee isn't that bad and much better than the pods which can be a little stale tasting. |

Re: Which Keurig to get?
IMO, get one with multiple cup sizes. I hate having to put water in mine so the bigger the reservoir the better.

Re: Which Keurig to get?
Thanks for all the help gents!!! :tu
Looks like I'm gonna get the Platinum model! The wife is going to Bed, Bath & Beyond tomorrow with the 20% off coupon and it will be here tomorrow! |
Re: Which Keurig to get?
Make sure you register it online. Mine failed and they replaced it no questions asked and sent a 12 pack sampler.

were on are forth replacement in under 2 years. Depending on your water quality consider a Britta type water filter pitcher used to fill up the keurig seemed to help keep are last one running the longest until yesterday when it simply would not turn on. Also descale it as recommended by keurig and you should be good to go. |
Re: Which Keurig to get?
I have this one, never had an issue:

Re: Which Keurig to get?
So Eric, did you ever pick up the B70? If so, any thoughts on it?
My wife wants me to pick one of these up, but reading through all the Keurig reviews, I'm a little doubtful about them. Seems like an awful lot of people are having them break after a few months. Likewise, there are bad reviews on the Cuisinarts. Anyone have one that's lasted any length of time? Any brands that are stand out? I've used the high end LavAzzas before and they're nice, but that's way overboard for what we need and I don't want to get involved with proprietary stuff. Wife wants to make teas, and it might be nice if I want a quick cup of coffee and don't want to grind and brew my usual full pot. I just don't want to waste the time and $$ on something that's going to end up being a source of irritation. Any advice out there? |

Seems to work just as advertised and makes a pretty good cup of coffee depending which k-cup you use as some are better than others. And I did get the Platinum (B70). |

Re: Which Keurig to get?
If anyone is looking to get a B70, Costco sells it online for about the same price as Amazon and it comes with 60 K-cups and the My K-cup reusable filter that lets you put your own coffee in it. I think we'll be picking it up for xmas this year.

Re: Which Keurig to get?
The Keurig rocks. My brother has the one that doesn't have a reservoir. Its kind of a pain to use. You have to load the water first. Then insert the capsule and press the button. If you are making several cups this is a drag.
I would highly recommend getting one of the ones that has a reservoir. I have the elite.. and its very nice. |
Re: Which Keurig to get?
Okay, I succumbed to pressure from my other half and ordered the B70. At the moment, Costco on-line is the best deal I could find. When you figure tax and what not, it was still a few bucks cheaper than Amazon and they include the filter basket thingy. I don't think Amazon gives you the thingy, but I can't remember for sure. Brain is pretty much fried right now from surfing and shopping and reviewing these things for the last two days.

Re: Which Keurig to get?
I have the B60 and love it. My only regret is that I didn't get one that can fill a travel mug. If you drink from travel mugs a lot, get one that can fill it. Assuming they even make something that will fit a travel mug. I think they might, and if they do, get that one.

Re: Which Keurig to get?
My uncle has the Cuisinart one on that page...it's pretty good. We have a B70 at work and maybe it's just the k-cups they buy, but everything tastes burnt and terrible. I actually enjoyed the keurig coffee when I was visiting my uncle.

I order from Green Mountain a lot and enjoy their brand of k-cups quite a lot. |
Re: Which Keurig to get?
Maybe it's the coffee maker then. We pretty exclusively buy Green Mountain at work. It's probably not the B70, it's an older model I think of the same line. It's died on us multiple times too. I think that's the whole reason I've been hesitant to buy any keurig system. But seeing my uncle's and what a good cup of coffee it makes, it makes me think I should give it a shot.
I waste so much coffee making a pot at home. I usually only drink about 2/3rds of it, but as soon as I make a smaller pot, well I run out of coffee and wish I had more :r |

We could also just have different tastes! :) I was buying a lot of starbucks, mcdonalds and dunkin coffee, so I justified the expense by saving on that stuff. It's 50 cents a day as opposed to 2 - $5. |
