Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
Anybody else watching?
Doubt Ortiz has the stuff to shut Big Mouth Floyd up, but I will be rooting for just that, regardless of the odds. |
Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
Need to go to BW3's and see if that will have the fight on :bx:bx

Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
Don't know much about Ortiz but I am always up for a fight!

Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
I will be watching, rooting for Money Mayweather, and hoping he fights Pacquiao after he beats Ortiz.

My dad manages a kid who beat Ortiz in the amateurs. Unfortunately Ortiz is the one doing sll the right things while my dads fighter doesnt stay in the gym. Should be a decent fight though. I want to see someone stop mayweather but i want it to be pacquaiao

Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
I wouldn't care if it was Mother Teresa who shut Floyd up, as long as it's someone. :2

Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
I love all the talking Mayweather does. What I love even more is that Mayweather is bringing in Robert Garcia (Ortiz's trainers estranged brother) and Brandon Rios (Ortiz's nemesis) to be his special guests for the fight. Trying to use mind games to get an edge :)
|
Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
I saw that chit about Big Mouth bringing in Robert Garcia ( who also used to be Ortiz' trainer before Garcia's brother)...what a phuking douchebag. You need mind games to beat Ortiz? Then you suck. God I hate Mayweather.

Big Mouth's "legacy" will always be tarnished if he doesn't step up to the plate versus Manny P.
|
Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
His 41-0 record really means nothing towards his career until he fights Pacquiao. To some degree he has dodged a lot of boxers. He should have fought De La Hoya and Mosley earlier in his career. But he fought Juan Manuel Márquez when he was ranked 2nd pound for pound, and dominated that fight. Hatton was not a cake walk.

I don't think Ortiz is ready, but I will be rooting for him. And he will be 2.5 Million dollars richer. I'd fight Pretty Boy for 2.5 Mil. ;) |
Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
Ortiz certainly could get lucky, but the smart money is on Mayweather.
We're heading out with some friends for dinner and fun - doubt we'll make it all the way to the strip but we'll be in close proximity. Vegas is hopping this weekend! |

OMG, what a crazy ending. Ortiz was an idiot.

Considering I'm probably one of the only Mayweather fans here, I want to hear everyone else's reaction first. |

That is as close to "defending" Big Mouth as I will likely ever get. His post-fight interview with Merchant confiirmed for me what a POS he is. Nice way to duck what he knew was Larry's next question, "what about Manny?" :lr |

Larry had to defend himself somehow, Son. :lr
Floyd just wants to thank God, and HBO, and Fiddy Cent, and Queen Elizabeth, blah, blah, blah....he doesn't want to be real. I will gain some respect for him if he agrees to fight Pacquio next. |

I don't want to discredit FW.....he is a MONSTER..... But let's get in the ring and figure it out......
|
Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
At this point he has to fight Pacquiao. There is no other fight. A rematch against Ortiz is a waste of time. I'm really hoping it happens.
|
Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
On the live 24/7, some boxing experts were mocking Floyd's idea that retiring undefeated will make him the greatest of all time. Ali lost 5 fights, and BM Floyd couldn't carry Ali's jock strap. :2
Fight the best....fight Manny, and Margarito, etc....then try to claim you're one of the best. |

I'm almost afraid though, if he is this big a douche now, could you imagine if he beat Pac Man? I almost shudder to think what we would have to listen too. |

Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
If he beat PacMan I would live with his mouth and give him props. I know I am in the minority, but I haven't respected Mayweather since the Delahoya fight. If I was a judge, I would have gave the fight to Oscar. I thought Floyd ran the entire fight and he got the win to setup the PacMan fight that has never happened.
Just my thoughts. |
Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
I agree, Mike...if he beat Manny, at least there would be a reason for his big talk.
I have been a boxing fan my whole life, and right now Big Mouth isn't even close to being one of the Top 20 fighters af all time. :2 |
Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
I actually have to give some props to Merchant for that last comment. When you're that age and a younger pup tells you that, they way FM did, it's not unclassy to give such a response. It took balls to say that after Mayweather was bullying him through a legitimate interview.

Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
Merchant is my hero of the day. :tu

Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
I love watching fights. Sounds like I made the right call by not buying this one. Pac Man in two months.

So, ah, I wonder what part of protect yourself at all times Ortiz didn't quite get? :lr :lr :lr
And yeah, Floyd is still a putz. A badass, rich putz, but a putz all the same. :D |

Re: Mayweather - Ortiz 9/17/11
The ending to the fight was crazy, but I agree with Mayweather's justification for knocking him out the way he did. It is protect yourself at all time, and the referee did make the call for them to fight again. Mayweather obviously heard that and Ortiz did not. I didn't get how Ortiz kept wanting to apologize though.
One thought I had though is turn the table and ask yourself what if Mayweather headbutts Ortiz, then Ortiz knocks out Mayweather in the same manner. I would say the aftermath is a little bit different :2 |
