Hurricane Irene
Well wishes to everyone about to be hit by this storm. Hoping everyone has "battened down the hatches" and is prepared for this thing. Supposed to hit the Carolina coast this evening and wreak havoc up the entire eastern seaboard. Best of luck to everyone in its path (including me). Keeping my fingers crossed that this thing fizzles out, but just in case.

Re: Hurricane Irene
Good luck to all the Easties. Stay safe. Grab your water, food, guns/ammo, and bug out to a safer location.

Re: Hurricane Irene
Yeah not sounding good this storm. They're talking it up like a 100 year storm. I hope it doesn't affect us too badly and it's more talk then actual happening. Be safe everyone!!!

Re: Hurricane Irene
Stay safe and dry.

Re: Hurricane Irene
Yes, good luck all those in the area, thoughts are with you. As a native South-Floridian I've been through my fair share, and I know we got very lucky with this one missing us.

Re: Hurricane Irene
Hurricane Herf????
In all seriousness I am hoping everyone fairs well. I was looking at the path and this thing looks like it is following a similar path as Gloria back in '85 which I think was the last time a Hurricane really beat up the Northeast. I know on Long Island that may have been the last one to do major damage. I'm hoping the media is just over hyping this thing to fit in with the doom and gloom since the earthquake happened to be in the same week and it dwindles down to a Tropical Storm. Good luck everyone. |
Re: Hurricane Irene
Just spent all day putting everything in my yard into the shed.
With my luck, the yard will be fine, but the shed will blow away. On a brighter note, I got on the roof to clean the gutters, and unlike the last time, I used the ladder to get down instead of a bush. Here's hoping everyone stays safe and dry! |
Re: Hurricane Irene
Stay safe friends.
|
Re: Hurricane Irene
Between last night and today, I've been preparing and helping family prepare for the worst. Hopefully, it will be far from it. Stay safe everyone potentially effected.
|
Re: Hurricane Irene
So far, so good. Branches down, loads of rain, and one power loss (for about an hour). Eye of the storm is supposed to hit this area in about an hour and a half. Still keeping finges crossed.

Pouring in NYC right now, not terribly windy. As a new dog owner, what should I do about getting him out to handle his business. Just tried to walk him and he wants no part of it.

Re: Hurricane Irene

Brother in law texted a few minutes ago and said they are getting hammered with rain and wind in Templeton, MA.
|
Re: Hurricane Irene
It is kind of funny but here on the north shore the rain was worse over night than it is now. The weather reports are looking like it will just be a bar noreaster in my area thankfully.

Re: Hurricane Irene
Good to hear Paul.

Re: Hurricane Irene
We've got some pretty strong gusts in central CT right now. The power is still on though. The local news is saying it may all be through here by noon.

Re: Hurricane Irene
Worst is passed us now.
My main concern was water in the basement and a tree falling. Neither happened. Basement is bone dry and more importantly, so is my Humidor! I hope all effected share my good fortune! |
