I really enjoyed this thread over at CS. ColdCuts, the OP of the Cigars in Cinema pm'ed me today and said that it was ok to bring this thread over here. He has been in a period of transition lately and has been too busy to get over to the Asylum. He will make it over here eventually. With that said, here is the last updated list that he had compiled. Bond, M and a Finance Minister of some sort enjoy cigars after a dinner towards the beginning of the movie. |

Just watched Get Smart (the 2008 remake with Anne Hathaway :dr and some guy) the other night. Near the end of the movie, Maxwell Smart takes a Cadillac across a driving range. The guy on the platform that shouts out, "Hey, a car! $20 bucks to whoever hits it!" is holding a stogie.

In Click (with Kate Beckinsale :dr) Adam Sandler comes home thinking he made partner at his firm. He brought a bunch of gifts for the family, including a nice "celebration" cigar for himself.

Saw the beginning of Rocky III last night, and Paulie was smoking a cigar at his birthday party. I believe he may be smoking cigars in other Rocky films too, if anyone can confirm.

I'm pretty sure he is in one and two as well. Just watched them both recently. Pretty much a constant for the character.

The History Channel has a show Shadow Force and one of the spec-ops, Cobus Claassens I believe, has a cigar in down time. By the label and size of one it looked to be a Cuban RyJ Churchill.

Caught the second half of "The Legend of the Drunken Master" (Jackie Chan) and saw that the movie's antagonist was smoking a cigar as he plotted the looting of the town's cultural items.

Independence Day actually had quite a few cigar smoking/ cigar scenes. The guy that played jeff Goldblum's father smoked one during their chess match, and during the briefing before the attack on the spaceship, the fighter pilots are passing out a box of tubed cigars.

I've noticed- now that this thread has me looking- cigars in most movies I watch. Many times they do not have bands, and if they do, they are hard to recognize. Since I watch a lot of movies on TCM, I imagina these are all ISOMs being smoked. And, Andy, since you appear to have the list in Excel or something, I suggest that you remove the "The" from the start of the movie title to make it easier to check out the list alphabetically. I have so many CDs that I have the list in Excel, leave out the "The" for bands to make it easier when I search my list. I'll hafta start writing down titles when I observe cigars- a recent view:

Gotta another for the next update: in Burn After Reading (2008 w/George Clooney & Brad Pitt,) John Malkovich's character goes to a Princeton reunion dinner. While he's there, a bunch of guys are singing and drinking around a banquet table and the one right next to him has a recently lit cigar.

The wife & I just got back from seeing The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. A few scenes with cigars, notably the tugboat captain who always seems to be smoking or chewing on some kind of cheroot.
Great movie, by the way--visually stunning, it was fun to just watch. |

This thread has me noticing stogies everywhere in movies, tv, etc...
In the movie Tucker: The Man and His Dreams, 1988 with Jeff Bridges, there is a hilarious scene where they are test driving one of the cars and it ends up rolling over about 10 times and finally comes to a rest right side up. The driver opens up the door and gets out with a mashed stogie in his mouth that he promptly discards. |

Does it count if there aren't cigar visuals in a movie, but in the dialogue? In Death Race (2008) with Jason Statham, the Machine Gun Joe character at one point says, "By this time tomorrow, I'll be smoking Cohibas in Miami." :ss

OK, most of my list was already there but I do have a few to add.
The Cincinnati Kid (1965) Steve McQueen, Edward G. Robinson, Ann-Margret King Kong (2005) Naomi Watts, Jack Black Pitch Black (2000) Vin Diesel, Radha Mitchell Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie - this one might need to be confirmed. I know there is a scene at a party where one of the neighbors asks Pitt if he wants a Cuban cigar but I can't recall if the guy asking actually has a cigar in his hand at the time. If someone owns it and wants to check that would be cool. It is on TV here all the time so I will have a chance to see it again eventually. |

Caught a horrible movie this morning that I hadnt' seen since I was a kid.
Heartbeeps (1981) - Andy Kaufman and Bernadette Peters are robots who run away to start a family. Along the way they pick up another robot who is dressed in a suit, sitting on steamer trunks, and constantly smoking a cigar while telling bad jokes. If you like rotten cult flicks this may be one you've missed. |

In Monty Python Live At the Hollywood Bowl (1982) there are at least two scenes with cigar smoking. In World Forum, Che has a cigar in his mouth for the entire sketch and in the Four Yorkshire Men, all four have cigars in their mouths and some are lit. For the record, this was not a tv program but a feature length show released to theaters.

I didn't catch this whole movie but cigars are in there, smoking and you can spot part of a bundle in someone's luggage. Unhumidored, just lying there all alone and unprotected. Part of the movie even takes place in Havana, I'm not sure what era though. |

Actually it has a pretty awesome cast beyond those two, too many to list. It's also a really funny movie, probably not for everyone, but fantastic nevertheless. |
