Tampa Humidor?

Re: anejo hunters

I will most likely not be getting any this year... I still have several boxes saved up and I have stumbled into the darkness and can't seem to find the light again... :r

I have thought about thinning the anejo heard but I just can't ever bring myself to do it... I always picture gollum and then a voice in my head starts saying "my precious..." :D

Now THAT gets my attention. I have a whole drawer of Anejos but never enough Hemi maduros.

My B&M calls when the Anejo and Opus comes in but never seems to get the Hemingway maduros.

rumor has it a close shop got some between the lines along with sigs and classics. i'm more interested in WOAM but no b&m's had them on their packing lists.

between the lines, eh? Looks like the search is on for a 5er or 2. Guess I need to actually try to thin out a couple premiums.

Re: anejo hunters

I have a decent number still sitting in the humidor so chances are I won't go nuts this year. Down to one Shark so I may try and see if I can pick up a few more of those but I do not plan on killing myself like I normally do although I said the same thing last year and in true form jumped on the boat way too late but did manage to pick up a few torps(55s?) so all in all it was not too bad. I do like to age them so it's good to have a stockpile.

We have the Hemingway Maduros where I work, but the Anejos aren't in yet, but that doesn't mean you can't stop in and see me if you are in the area. -

2nd shipments hit the larger vendors today. if your shop is small it probably didn't get much if anything. i know vendors in NYC and vendors locally who got them. If you are in the middle or out west you will see them soon. Opus should be here any day now.

Bubba - NJ 12-05-2008 05:51 PM

Re: anejo hunters

I posted in another thread that both Holt's locations in Philly have lots of Opus . As for Anejos the center city Philly store had #48s , #50s and #49s in along with hemi maduros . The smaller shops I frequent only had #55s in and the Hemi maduros . One shop did say they were getting more Anejos as per their Fuente rep .

Re: anejo hunters

I bought a box of 46's and about 20 other various sizes. I'm heading to my B&M in the morning for more. I've got to stock up. Get 'em while you can boys. Fuente shuts down December 15th. No shipments etc.!!!

I'll buy as many as they will let me and if anybody is interested I'd be more then willing to share the wealth in the Christmas spirit. Not promising anything, you guys know how fast they go.

Oh yeah, did I meniton my B&M sells them at MSRP:ss

There were a couple of B&M's in Indy that got theirs a few weeks ago. Picked up a couple of Sharks (got them close to msrp) as an early holiday present to myself :ss

Re: anejo hunters

Even if my shops get a shipment, they jack the price to insane highs. A shark will run you $35.

Re: anejo hunters

last week was in a b&m that had 46's with a two stick limit. took two and figured that would be it. Then on monday went to a wine shop we do buis with and they had 3 boxes out! Asked if he cared how many I took, when he said "no", I grabbed the last 14 Sharks and 4 55's. $200 for the lot :ss It was the last thing I was expecting and not in my budget as I had alloted monies for "other deals" that are out there but pulled the trigger anyways. Too hard to say no at that price

Thats about the same around me, but most of the time they are never seen. The owner and help get first dibbs and most of the time the OpusX/Anejo never hit the shelves:(

Same with mine. I have 3 B&Ms within 15 minutes of me, only one of them will hold anything for me. But that shop rarely gets any Opus or Anejo. Sad, but iv been dealing with it for years.

That is insane. My B&M charges MSRP. They don't sell singles (or boxes), but sells then in 4-packs (four different sizes, including a shark) for $38.00

Re: anejo hunters

My local Tinderbox (Durham, NC) has told me (depending on who you talk to):
1. they have 3-4 boxes (48, 49, 77, ?) but they are in the "office" and not out for sale yet. When they do, it will be 1 box at a time.
2. They don't have any yet (easier to say)

They told me they do not know when they will put them out. They also said, they will not take my name/number and alert me when they go on sale. So, they are suggesting I just stop back every couple says for the next month????

WTF? You know, I do like Anejos, but I hate playing F'n games. I have about 30 random Anejos left from last year, so I guess I am passing on them this year. Besides, for then price, I'd rather have a MC#2 or 2 PSD4s.

F the B&Ms that play games with their customers.

I hear ya bro......I really do. It's not really the B&M's fault that AF drop ships these on a limited basis every year. If, and I say IF AF didn't do that, there wouldn't be this game.

On the other hand, if AF didn't do that, the Anejo wouldn't be so popular.

Everybody's stuck, and frankly, it's magic in marketing by AF if you asked me. Demand is what they have created. And demand is what happens every single year.

My local Tinderbox was doing something similar 2 years ago . I went one day and was told they'll be out tomorrow , when I got there at opening it was a different clerk and he told me they sold out yesterday . WTF ! This Tinderbox closed a year later , oh shucks ! :hn

Re: anejo hunters

Must be a Tinder Box thing. The one down the road from me also keeps them stashed away and only sells them to people they are familiar with and only reveal they are there only if you ask. Last year I was able to score 2 55s. I decided I am not playing the game this year as jumping through hoops to get them gets tiresome after awhile. Plus the only vitolas I have interest in are the Sharks and 55s as I am down to one each of these. If I happen to be in the right place at the right time great, but I won't be losing sleep this year if I don't.

I don't know what you consider a huge markup, but Jack Schwartz has full boxes in stock right now of five different sizes. There is definitely a markup but not as much as you usually see.

I just picked up two reserva xtra viejo. The will go nicely next to my aging opus.

Which is the anejo shark?

They had several cases of samplers at about $189 a piece. A bit out of my price range. Anyone else seen these?

Shark is the 77. It's a square to round, box pressed belicoso. Not to be confused with the #55 torpedo. Shark is the only one without cedar.

if you got them at tinderbox in lakeland you probably got ripped off. those holiday samplers also MSRP for 110 and can be had if you look around a bit for 100.

if you go into tampa there are plenty of places to get stuff close to MSRP if not MSRP.
