Hefeweizens
Post up your favorite Hefe's. I'm looking to try more, but want to see what everyone else likes or recommends.
In the past I've enjoyed: New Glarus Crack'd Wheat Franziskaner Sierra Nevada Kellerweis |
Re: Hefeweizens
Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier
Franziskaner ( Had this in Austria and loved it) Goose Island 312 is not bad. |
Re: Hefeweizens
Ayinger is my favorite so far followed by Weihenstephaner.
I used to not enjoy wheat beers but lately I am really liking them |
Re: Hefeweizens
Hoegarden (sp?)
|
Re: Hefeweizens
Harpoon UFO
but if I could get it in quantity, I'd drink Sam Adams Dunkel Weis all day long Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Hefeweizens
Paulaner hefeweizen is still my favorite
Bluehills Wheat (a local I had on tap the other day, Massholian Hefewizer) |
Re: Hefeweizens
If I am buying Hefe's here I go with Franziskaner or Harpoons UFO
|
Re: Hefeweizens
Paulaner is always good for me.

Re: Hefeweizens
Anything German!
|
Re: Hefeweizens
I typically go with Paulaner or Weihenstephaner for that authentic German hefe :tu, but one of the best American hefe's I've had on tap was some years ago at Pyramid Brewing out in Seattle. I don't think it's their current production hefe (Haywire,) it may have been an Imperial hefeweizen. All I remember was that it was :dr
|
Re: Hefeweizens
Haven't ever had a bad heffeweissen, but plenty of bad American beer. Coincidence?
I wish Kristallweissen was as available as the heffeweissen. It's good stuff as well. |
Re: Hefeweizens
Widmer Hefeweizen
Pyramid Hefeweizen The only two I drink on a regular basis! |
Re: Hefeweizens
I've been on a Hefe kick lately and enjoying the following;
Sierra Nevada Kellerweis Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier Widmer Pyramid and when we visit my daughter in Oak Harbor I always stop in to Flyers for some Heat Seeker Hefe (that stuff is da bomb!:dr). |
Re: Hefeweizens
I'm starting to drink the blood orange hefe I brewed recently and have to say, it's pretty good!

Re: Hefeweizens
Magic Hat Circus Boy
Brooklyner Weisse |
Re: Hefeweizens

Re: Hefeweizens
Picked this up yesterday
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...hefeweizen.jpg The Virginia state seal is looking kinda butch and I'm not really sure what corn (or that phallus) has to do with anything :r but the side label reads: Sic Semper Fermentue Terribilis: "Death to Bad Beer Always." The Virginia Hefeweizen is made with 100% German Weihenstephan Weizen yeast. Like the early German immigrants to central Virginia, we use American wheat to produce an authentic, unfiltered Hefeweizen beer. Enjoy banana ester production, phenols and clovelike characteristics. This is the best Hefe you've ever tried. The last line is more like a jedi mind trick, because it wasn't the best I've ever tried. However, it was pretty good--despite the cheesy label--and was certainly yeasty with plenty of banana & clove. May have been a bit overhopped because it was slightly more bitter than I expected for the style. Not bad overall, though, and since it's a local brew, quite reasonably priced ($4/22oz.) |
Re: Hefeweizens
Hofbrau Haus in Vegas has the real stuff, on tap! All good, including the weizen.
|
Re: Hefeweizens
Franziskaner
Paulaner & the list of German Hefe's If I want a hefe there's no reason to even order a microbrew. We have an awesome pizza pub that has an unbelieveable selection of imports and micros, so the options are endless, but if it's a hefe is the real deal. |
Re: Hefeweizens
I'm with Ken, I've had good domestic/micro Kolsch, but the micro hefe's never stack up it seems...and it is just as easy to find a world class German bottle. Not trying to be a hater, but that is just how it has played out for me so far.

What's disturbing is the surviving champion is supposed to be a chick. And that's the worst drawn sword I've ever seen. |

That sword has a head on it???

Re: Hefeweizens
One I haven't seen mentioned that I enjoyed is Hacker Pschorr. I also enjoy Ayinger, Paulaner, and Franziskaner (especially the Dunkel).
|
Re: Hefeweizens
Ayinger, followd by Weihenstephaner
|
Re: Hefeweizens
Lots of great hefewiezens listed. A lot of my favorites. A couple local breweries make some really great ones but aren't available for distribution. Browns brewing company and C.H. Evens brewing company. C.H. Evans actually won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival.
Love Sierra Nevada Keller Wies. Love Wienhenstephaner. Love Franziskaner. Love Brooklynn Wiesse. |
Re: Hefeweizens
Franzi is okay, there is a bar in Allentown, Pa that has it on tap.
Going there for a pub crawl friday night. |
