You think you can work a deal?

My wife is looking for a new car. We found it, worked a price we're happy with, and the dealer told her she'd get free car washes and oil changes forever.
I told her a few days ago to see if she can get me free car washes for my car, too. My car isn't even from that dealer, but it's car wash is real close to the house (it's at the dealer, actually), so I'll use it.
Today she gets an email...
"Hi Lisa,
If we work a deal I will include car washes for your husbands vehicle. Let me know.
Thanks,
Blah, Blah"

So now I get car washes for my car.
Then today she stops in the dealer on the way to work and says "Knock these last three numbers off and get me a white one for tomorrow, and we have a deal."
She just got a call, she saved us another 700 bucks and they're going to get her car as soon as they make some papers and I take them some money.

I'm gonna run my car through their car wash as soon as I take the money over. :D

Hopefully its a touchless wash. Especially hope they don't have the people that towel dry the car afterwards. Otherwise your paint will suffer.

Congrats on the good deal!

The boss worked this whole thing like a pro. I must say, I'm quite impressed.

I agree, Paul. I won't use it if it's not. It's right at the dealership, so I'm sure it is. I generally handwash my car anyways, but this will keep me from having to do it very often, which is a mega-bonus. Between Lisa and I, we easily spend $50-$100/month in car washes, despite handwashing. We like to keep the cars clean, I wish we could get free sweeping and detailing, too. :D

They don't do it by hand, they have a drive-through one. It's a huge dealership. They probably had 100 of Lisa's car, but not a white one, if you can believe that. They have white in the other models, but not in the Limited that she picked. As of yesterday, she had picked dark gray. They have that one, with all the stuff she wanted.
She really likes white, I'm glad she decided to go with it.

I'd have made them include one free loaf of banana bread per week too.

Lisa made banana bread a couple days ago. She said "It's a shame you can't eat any of this, it's f'in fabulous." You'd make a good wife. :r

By the "Limited" package you're talking about, sounds like you may have either picked up a VW or a Hyundai. Congrats on the new vehicle, whichever it is.

It's a Sonata with all the stuff one can jam in it. Lisa is driving an XG350 right now and loves it. It's just come to the end of it's ropes. We'd need to throw a bunch of money at it, and it doesn't make sense.
All I care about is the backup camera. I'm gonna drive around the neighborhood in reverse, just cause it's awesome.
The timing is perfect because she has to go to Texas this weekend and me and her Mom and Dad are going to a tool show where I plan to fill the trunk with tools. So I get to drive it all weekend. :D
Her Dad is planning to buy the same in April. We really should have waited, but yesterday she had a tire explode on the interstate. No sense in waiting for one more disaster, I figure (not that the tire has anything to do with anything, but it's ripe to fail anyways.)

Congrats on the new car.
I hate buying cars. One time the salesman kept coming back and would offer me the same cost each time. He would lower the car cost, but at the same time lower my trade-in value by the same amount. I guess he figured I couldn't add.

This has been my best experience ever, Adrian. Our salesman is in second place in sales among about 20 guys. He and another guy are neck and neck for first place. Point being, he listens, and he's pretty sharp.
We'll see how it plays out. We already expect he'll come at us with a white car with the wrong options, and we'll have to tell him he's a knucklehead. I'm praying it all goes well. A lousy salesman experience can really take the joy out of the car, and I truly want Lisa to love the experience as much as the cigar, er, I mean car. ;)

We had a great experience when we bought my wife's PT Cruiser in 2002. I was really impressed when we got to the finance guy and he didn't add in anything without asking. No insurance for extra garbage and no maintenance agreements. Unfotunately the dealership was gone by the next year. When I bought my Mustang, it was the exact opposite. The finance guy added everything under the sun. We redid the contract 3 times because he kept forgetting to remove one thing or another.
