Opinions requested
Hey everyone, I guess this would be kind of a reintroduction of sorts. I just recently joined ca, and enjoy reading the threads and learning about this hobby. But I'm very new to it. When I say new, I mean I just borrowed a humi this past weekend from my father in law, so that the cigars I purchased from cigar bid wouldn't go stale on me:) And I sure appreciate that mr Gainey! The question I have is. What would be an inexpensive cutter and lighter? (what brand?) I just cant afford a $200 lighter :r I value your opinions, and look forward to your comments.

Re: Opinions requested
Ronson Jet Lite is a great cheap lighter you may be able to find at WalMart, Walgreens, RiteAid. For a cutter get a Palio or Xikar. Not cheap, but you'll never need to buy another one.

Re: Opinions requested
I just use one of the $1 cigar cutters from my local B&M or the $4 two blade kind. For a lighter I use the butane torch ones they give for free when you buy a box. I think they are like $2 when you buy them. I, like you, can't afford to pay for the high end cigar cutters/lighters so I make do with what I have. I think I will save up and buy a nice one someday but being in college I can't justify spending my grocery money on lighters, cutters AND cigars. I will just stick to spending it on cigars for now. -(P :tu

Re: Opinions requested
I saw the word boobs....I really don't recall anything else that was posted. Let me look again.
Still boobs, oh wait there is a noob just committed a crime and he knows GGainey! Double G apparently didn't tell him everything. Greg nice work, tomorrows Wednesday I'll have some popcorn around come Friday or Saturday. :r Oh and BTW get a Palio cutter. The lighter doesn't matter, a Ronson with Xikar/Vector Butane will do just fine. |

Re: Opinions requested
Jason, don't overlook the old standby lighting technique using something us old timers call "matches." Wooden stick matches to be exact. There's a 3-stick technique that works great, although it takes a bit longer than a torch.
But who's in a rush? You're about to smoke a cigar, right?! |
Re: Opinions requested
Who needs three matches? I can light a 56 ring cigar with one. Although, that is due to my brokeass-edness when I first got into cigars. Funny, I'm still broke. Anyway, Welcome Jason. I'm sure you can already see why it is called the asylum. Get to a local herf if you haven't been to one yet.

Re: Opinions requested
Hey Dave. There are MANY great lighters out there... A good bet is to go with a Xikar; lifetime warranty and great quality + a great price point..

Welcome Jason!
Greg, I'm not sure why you're surprised that he's already getting bombed...he is your son in law after all...and I've seen the chant "bomb ggainey" more often than I can count in various banter threads :r |

Pretty sweet actually. As he said, probably wouldn't use it often, but personally if I had a special smoke I really wanted to take my time with I might give that a try. Thanks. |
