Re: The official CA Burger thread
Man when I first read the title, I thought it was CA - California and I wouldn't get to play, then it dawned on me..
5-guys - burger of choice - bacon, fresh cut jalapenos, grilled onions, A-1 steak sauce. Need I say more? Stake and Shake is a close second, then Wendy's. But then are times when I gotta have a Big-Mac or some Krystals. now I'm hungry. |
Re: The official CA Burger thread
Hands down, it's a little local joint with three locations in Bham only. Called Hamburger Heaven. Worth trying if you get down this way.
|
Re: The official CA Burger thread
5 Guys is definitely one of the best burger joints around. Here is my go to:
Bacon, jalapenos, grilled onions, lettuce, cheese, bbq sauce. Very similar to JKim's but with BBQ instead of A-1. |
Re: The official CA Burger thread
Tart's Grill---A very small, of the beaten path joint run by an older lady named Betty. Best Carolina burger (mustard, onions, chilli and slaw) in this area.
Also like the Tastee Freeze burgers, but I think the last one in North Carolina closed down recently.:( Hardees (Carl's) gets my vote for the classic lettuce and tomato burger, though. :D |
Re: The official CA Burger thread
Still don't think I can find something better than an In-N-Out Double Double, no onions ofcourse.
|
Re: The official CA Burger thread
I prefer my burgers Med-Rare, so that cuts out many joints from having a decent, edible burger. Damn Food Police. My favorite joint? Mine. ;) Nothing like a half pounder, done right on the grill with anything from a Sesame Kaiser, to some great ciabatta for a roll, good cheese, anything from Blue to co-jack, thick cut bacon, or one of a hundred different toppings. The drinks are always cold, the company is great, and you can go directly to the cigar lounge after dining, if it strikes the fancy.

As far as Burger joints go I like In-and-out and Red Robin. I&O cuz it is fast and tastes good. RR cuz burgers are good and you can have a beer when the kids can have a shake. |

Five Guys, the burgers are overcooked but the french fries are worth it. |
Re: The official CA Burger thread
Five guys is good, and has four midlands locations!!! You fly, I'll buy!!!
However, In-N-Out is best... I'll take mine "with". I dream In-N-Out! |

Re: The official CA Burger thread
For a fast food style burger nobody around beats the WhiteHut in West Springfield, MA Make sure you order with fried onions (carmalized)
For a more "gourmet" burger the Blue Cheese burger from Plan B in Glastonbury, CT is the best ive had... 1 inch thick, carmalized onions, bluecheese and burbon sauce...:dr:dr:dr |
Re: The official CA Burger thread
In-N-Out when I can get it (SoCal native here) but since I'm in Amarillo these days, Blue Sky is my favorite buger place that I can regularly patronize
if you're ever in town, let me know, and I'll show you a fantastic burger oh yeah, and Tommy's in LA, omg good |

Re: The official CA Burger thread
Some great calls in here.
Barneys and In & Out are my go to places, though I've been laying off the burgers lately. The best burger I've ever had was from Izzy's Steak and Chophouse in SF. I don't know why I was ordering the burger at an awesome steak place. It just sounded good at the time. It was really fricking good and I'd order it again. Tasted like it was made from ground filet mignon. I'll need to try out Big Burger in Concord. |
Re: The official CA Burger thread
I think that the best burger in my area is from a Bar called Dillinger's. The Scarface is the best. Burger, mozz sticks, onion rings and BBQ sauce on a roasted bun. :dr

Here in NYC Jackson Hole is pretty good, but my favorite is the Beer Bar Bountiful Burger from the Beer Bar - 200 Park Ave, New York 10166
At 45th St & Vanderbilt Ave I wish I found a place that makes this though.... http://aht.seriouseats.com/archives/...s-its-bun.html :dr |
Re: The official CA Burger thread
The best place in Dallas, TX if you're ever here is the Angry Dog.
http://www.angrydog.com/ For national chains, I prefer Fuddrucker's and Red Robin. The Royal Red Robin goes great with a hangover! |
