I did not pre-order because last year I pre-ordered and Worst Buy had like 1000 copies. One less trip.

If the online play sucks as bad as Modern Warfare 2 I am snapping the disc in half.

Good news is TreyArch made this version, because Infinity Ward really dropped the ball on CoD:MW2. :td

MW2 is pretty much the only game I played online in the past 10yrs. So what made it suck? I thought it was great but I have nothing to compare it to other than Counter Strike and Team Fortress when I was in college in 99-01

You are opening a can of worms there. I never had a problem with MW2, however, a lot of people had a lot of problems--noob tubing, no dedicated servers on PC, killstreaks, quickscoping etc.

I loved MW2 though. I liked MW1 better, but still enjoyed the hell out of MW2.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

I'll be getting this probably tonight if not next week when I get a chance. Probably not playing online too addictive and I hate cheaters so much.

i haven't liked any of the COD's after COD:3

they are all the same to me. Kinda like a van damme movie. Same dialogue, different location.

The quickscoping, boosters and hackers I did see as a problem but I didn't run into that much. Noob tubing and quickscopers are easy to fight against so they didn't bother me. Every time I saw obvious hacking I just backed out (like the walking AC-130). Other than that I am addicted as hell.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

Cheating, hacking, lag switches, glitches, host problems, connection issues, terrible map packs, auto-aimers, modded contollers, just to name a few. Infinity Ward didn't fix glitches, they had all kinds of connection problems for not having a dedicated server. Their offerings in the map packs were absolutely garbage. And once you bought the map packs those were the only maps you ever played. World at War was a better game than Modern Warfare 2 and everyone complained about how bad that game was and couldn't wait until MW2 came out. :td

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

I'm in the minority for sure, but i've liked Treyarchs CODs better than IWs. Multiplayer was exploited badly in MW2, but it doesn't matter to me with this one. Four player co op zombie bustin is all i'm doin :D

I lied. I picked it up last night. Mostly because I am updating my CPU and Video Card soon, and one of my friends is interested in buying my old ones but only if they can run black ops.

Also - because i wanna kill some zombies.

4 extra co op maps? I imagine that will be a download soon, right?

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

I am getting awful performance with the game. It's so bad that I am convinced they didn't even test the game before release. Some BS right now... this video shows exactly what I see when I play.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpbWJ7wQtHs

Pretty much unplayable, they better fix it.

Nothing like that on XBL, but having a very hard time getting groups all in the same game. Of course, right now, there are a bit over 2.35 million players on XBL playing this.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the game though.

Yeah, supposedly its a PC only issue at the moment. Seems to be affecting about 1 in 4 of players. Not sure what's causing it, but its really a game breaker. You cannot even hope to play with that kind of stutter.

I bought it yesterday. I haven't bothered to play games since Counter Strike on the PC, but I went ahead and got COD: BO for my PS3. Once I figure out what I am doing, I'll join the online community. So far it looks pretty good.

Picked it up last night, pretty badass. I don't play on the Internet though. My roommate and I can't figure out how to use the co-op multiplayer mode though.

GREAT game. Very, very well done. The story line is intense, and the multiplayer is fantastic. I haven't gotten to play zombie mode, though. I'm hoping to get a chance to today or tomorrow.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

I was out for the midnight release and I would say there were 400 people waiting in line for it.

My thoughts...

Core is absolute junk. Considering I like to be a long distance sniper and find lanes core just doesn't do it for me. Having to shoot people so many times that I empty a clip on someone to kill them is not fun. I did find some success going lightweight with a shotgun.

Hardcore is nice. The shotgun attachment on the M16 is very nice. The flame thrower was a great addition.

Graphics...I think MW2 is superior. The graphics don't look crisp for me. the environment starts to blend together.

Maps...pretty good overall...very fun to play. I believe they are superior to MW2. With that said if you like to snipe there are less places to do so from on most maps. They have multiple entry ways to most sniping choke spots and it gets tough to protect your blind side.

Overall I give it a 8.5/10 solid game but does have it's issues. And yes the servers have been an issue but I'm sure that will get worked out.

Headshots are one hit kills and there is no such thing as long distance snipers in COD...

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

Can't say how upset it is knowing that I still cannot play this game without lagging like crazy, and finding out the developers are on 'ustream' live all night leveling up their xbl characters.

They need to fix the game already, or I am taking it back to the store for a refund. There are too many PC players being left out to dry while the developer staff sits around playing zombie mode when they should be using the 400million dollars we gave them and fixing the god damn game with it.

Me too, but I wouldn't call it long range sniping. The maps arent even half as big as some of the BC offereings and nowhere near as close to ARMA size maps. That's long range sniping!

sikk50 11-14-2010 05:50 PM

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

I love sniping in Havana! Pretty fun, but there is deffinatly a lack of good sniping areas

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

Eh the storyline was ok...but the 5 maybe 6 hours of campaign gameplay :td.

They do this every single COD, no wonder I refuse to purchase them.
