Aging Party Shorts

I'm very new to CC's, actually, this box of shorts is my first real cc experience. These little gems taste great as is, the box I have is from April of this year. How different will they actually taste with some age on them? I'm not sure I'll be able to age them at all cause they're so tasty, but I might get more to put aside. Also what else should I try, I've already put Monty #4's on my list, but there are so many choices, I'm unsure what to go for. Thanks in advance, any advice is greatly apriciated.

I smoked a party short from 06 IIRC that was AWESOME.

Party Shorts will be my first CC box purchase for sure. Shorts with a couple years on them are awesome! Had a few from '06 and they were super tasty.

I've gone through at least 3 cabs now and have never been able to age them. However, they can be found for sale aged from time to time. It's just a matter of checking often since they go quick. I think shorts with 6+ years of age are some of the best cigars I've ever tried.

I don't think I'll ever be able to hold a box for 5+ years.... Well I'll be building a new house soon and a walk-in humi is being worked into the plans... I suppose if I just bury them in the walk in maybe I'll forget that they're there for 5 or so years lol

Hell, I can't hold a box for a year. I gift out too many to keep them around very long. :D

The only way I can get any age on them is I have a backup cab. That way they may get a couple of years if I can find one that is a year old already!!

:tpd:

I find buying them aged, for me, as of now, is about the only viable way for me to smoke aged sticks.

Why is there always an assumption that all CCs will go through a sick period. I know I do not have as much experience as many on here, but I tend to find a sick period the exception rather than the rule.

Thanks for your reply Pete, I've tried the Quintero's they're not bad, I'm gonna place an order in the next few days, maybe I'll get some kind of sampler

Yes but Chingas, how do you like the aged smokes you have acquired??
Any of them stand out?

My party shorts are so old I can't get into them any more . . . which is probably a good thing.

I have cabinets of 96 & 97s that are sublime, and taste much older than they are. I can only imagine what even older ones taste like.

Boli PC is definitely a good way to go. The Nacionales aren't bad either but I've had hit or miss on a box I have. Mostly a REALLY tight draw on them.

This is true. I believe it's in the eye of the beholder (or smoker for that matter). I know though that my 08 Monte #2 are starting to have a different flavor then from right out of the box. I recently had an 07 and an 06 that were great.

I had a couple draw issues rotb. But after a couple weeks at a hair under 65% rh, they opened up just fine. I'm about to open a fresh box soon, and thinking they will be okay. I also prefer a draw a little on the tighter side.

YMMV.

Do you mean the usual sick period, or something triggered by, say, not-quite-right storage conditions?

Just cracked a cab from 05 after going through a whole cab from 06 last year. These are some of my favourite smokes with some age.

I can only imagine what they taste like with 10+ years on them

My source still has some from 06 which is surprising.

I love the Shorts. I've had one with 6-years on it, and while it was definitely better (the 2nd best Party I've had, bested only by my recent EL from 2000/1), I like them so much fresh that I doubt I'd be able to age many.

Now is a GREAT time to pick up a db of party shorts. It's always a good time, but now is a great time. :)

Very Very Good. I have notes on just about all the smokes I've been smoking. I should really compile something. Some are so so, not outrageous, while others just have that "twang" or goodness to them that really make them something more than just a stick!

Now smoking the current releases side by side or back to back I suppose would really open up my eyes a bit to what I'm smoking!
