Welcome to heating season!!!
It was 56 outside and 67 inside this morning. I've been relying on baking and big fish tank lights to keep me from freezing up till now, but they're no longer cutting it.
I relented and turned the heat on. Who else has caved? Anyone as big a cold wussy as I am? |
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
no i think it's just you :ss throw some empty boxes into a fire pit
|
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
I'm still running A/C:D
|
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
Sorry Scott, I love the cold.
67 might make me shut the ac, but I would still need a fan. |
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
Left the house in shorts to run by work.....was chilly, but no heat yet.
|
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
I (and the little woman, especially) are with you, Scott. Anytime it gets 68 or below in the house, the heat is gonna be kicking in.
Seems the comfort zone goes up a degree every heating season. I think we'll be at 74* this year. :) |

My window is wide open this morning, as I drink my coffee and prepare myself for a crappy day of work!!!
It must just be you, Cupcake!!!;) |
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
and on another note, to make sure you are getting the best from your system, make sure your filters are clean and free flowing, and a HVAC duct cleaning can save you money in the long run, making your furnace more efficient, saving you dough for more cigars!
(and uh.. Lighters, and stuff... and er.. Rum.. and.. uh.. nice surprises for the wife, and... you get the idea.) |

Wayyy to early for that. I love the fall for the foliage, football, and days when you can leave the windows open and have a nice breeze.

We had cool, pleasant weather last weekend - the first real harbinger of fall. Summer may have one or two weeks of heat left up it's sleeve but in my book Fall has already given Summer the middle finger and a big, fat "Get the F&*K out of my way!". :r Can't wait for fall. |
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
HEATING!!!! :r :r :r
Yesterday was the first day in months it's cooled off enough here to open the windows up for a bit early in the morning. Of course, I have to shut them again around 10am when the air kicks on. :D |
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
Still got the AC kicking everyday. Nice and cool for the morning walk but still short sleeve/ shorts weather down here. May have to turn the pool heater on soon since the nights are cool enough to drop the water temps.

Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
The girlfriend turned on the heat yesterday.
Why is it that women need such a large differential from whatever temperature it is outside? In the winter, she needs the thermostat at 75. In the summer, she wants it at 65. WTF? Money down the effin drain. |
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
I hold out until my breath is steaming inside the house.
NO EXCEPTIONS! |
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
If it hits 70 then the AC stays on. Below 68 and I turn on the heat. I have had to do that for a couple of days so far. Wishing for more AC days though :)
|
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
I still sleep with 2 fans and want to run the A/C all the time. I live in Canada. if its up to me we will not turn on the heat until it snows. I tell the wife to just throw on a damn sweater.
|
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
Lisa and I ran away from the cold and hit Nashville, it's 55 degrees here. I turned the oven on to get some heat in here.
I can't win. I'm gonna go to one of those brainwashers so I can no longer tell when it's cold. Or else I'm gonna go down and move in with Carlos. Cold sucks. |
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
My wife turned off the A/C when I went to the Shilo yesterday morning to watch some football. I turned it back on when I got home :)
|
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
Still over 100 here.. :(
|
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
As I type, it is 58.5 in my room. I don't like the cold, but I'd rather throw on a sweatshirt than turn on the heat this early.
|
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
Low eighties here today, with temps in the upper 70's predicted the rest of the week. Looks like I can finally shut the A/C off. :wo

Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
Anyone got comments on home heating in regards to Gas vs Oil for a home?
Is there a huge price difference over all or will it just even out in the long run with price fluctuation? |
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
My AC's still on too. Although it's actually raining today. :)
|
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
If it's below 68F the heating is on. I've had the heating on for about a month now.
|
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
47* here this morning. Won't be turning on the heat until Nov., most likely.
|
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
Been in the 40s/50s at night an highs in the 60s, so not yet. Trying to delay the inevitible as long as possible. Lucky I have options...
|
Re: Welcome to heating season!!!
AC is still on even though it's 68 in the house today. We have a cold front that rolled in a few days ago and has stuck around. May turn on the gas fire place to take the chill off for the wife.... But, still holding off on turning the heat on.
