Remember: Go Out And Vote Today

Just a friendly reminder to get out there and vote.

Please do not discuss politics.

I was #23 this am at my local precinct. Pretty good line and heavy turnouts are expected.

Yeah.... I am glad I did an absentee ballot. My local voting place looked packed!

Voted early with the absentee ballot. My daughter got to vote for the first time this year as well.

The lines they're showing on the news are insane! Regardless of party affiliation, everyone should be proud of what's expected to be record turnout this year.

Wife and I are headed in at 10am. :tu

Hey mods ... can we get an "I Voted" badge for the next week? :D

The early voting lines were crazy here. My neighbor stood in line for more than two hours the other day before he hit the door to the library and gave up. I went this morning and had no line at all. I guess everybody else stood in the early voting lines:D

Was there at 7:15am, walked in cast my vote, was out less than 2 min later. I love living in a small town

Re: Remember: Go Out And Vote Today

I went in last week, was in and out in 15 minutes.

I have to admit that there were a few positions up that I had no idea were open and never heard of the candidates. So instead of just guessing or going with a certain party, I wrote in Alice Cooper or Denny Crain.

Had the absentee ballot in two weeks ago. Girlfriend lives in Chicago - Michigan ave is pretty much shut down she said. I work in DC - People in the office waited in lines over a mile long this morning (6 am - 9:30 am).

I've been reading some stories about problems in Philly. Piece of cake in my neighborhood. I was in and out in about 2 minutes.

Re: Remember: Go Out And Vote Today

10:55 .... three people in line in front of me. I love living in a small town. Maybe 6 or 7 minutes, but much of that was letting elderly voters jump in front of the line. Geezers ..... sheesh.

acarr 11-04-2008 10:24 AM

Re: Remember: Go Out And Vote Today

It took all but about ten minutes but I waited in line for about a minute of that.

The Professor 11-04-2008 10:25 AM

Re: Remember: Go Out And Vote Today

Was about 10 minutes for the wife and me -- longer line than we can recall, actually. The place was hoppin' for such a small town.

#48 at my precinct this morning. 6:45 a.m. Big turnout expected.

kaisersozei 11-04-2008 10:39 AM

Re: Remember: Go Out And Vote Today

Got in line at 6:15 under a steady rain, made it into the school gym at 7:00, marked my paper ballot in about 30 seconds, and then stood in line for another hour because the ONE optical scanning machine at our polling location was jammed and no one knew how to fix it. It would come on, then shut off, annoying alarms sounding, then restart, work for a few ballots, then jam again, alarms sounding, etc. Bunch of elderly elections officials huddled around pushing & pulling on things--one guy, no lie, smacked the side of it like my dad used to do to "adjust" our console color TV.

They finally decided that they shouldn't keep nearly 600 people couped up in the gym for so long and went to "Emergency Back-up Plan B", which was to have everyone drop their ballot off in a black box by the door, to be scanned in later.

There were dozens of elections officials and lawyers from the Protect the Vote campaign observing, but apparently only 1 tech crew for our entire county. Nothing like a little paper jam to screw up an otherwise well-orchestrated voting day.

Re: Remember: Go Out And Vote Today

Went at 11:00 this morning - there were three electronic booths and about 8 paper booths, and I was second in line for the electronic and the paper booths were empty. Somehow I feel better about voting electronically than on paper, although I'm sure some feel the opposite.

It feels good! There will certainly be record turnout this year.

Got there at 6:15 am and the line was about 200 deep. I was home drinking coffee by 7:30.

I took my 8year old daughter with me and allowed her to shade in the vote. (something for her to talk about years from now) We got there around 7:15a (my old high school, Finney High) and left around 10a. Almost 3hrs but it was well worth every min.:D GoodAfterNoon Fellas:ss
