Delta project of the month.

I had built this humi for a friend in CA. I posted pics of it in Delta tools gallery just for fun. I got an e-mail today from Delta informing me that the humi won project of the month. I didn't even know they did a project of the month so it was a nice suprize. I thought it was kind of cool that a humidor can hold its own against the furniture world

That's not just a humi, it's a work of art.

Thanks everyone. This one took me about 3 months. I work on them in my off hours. The wood for that one was some of my finest. There's only 2 that were made with it. I wish I had saved some for myself. ;)

So what's the prize?

And as far as holding up against furniture that one humidor you showed me is furniture.

I feel good knowing I will be able to keep people like you in businiess, because there isn't a chance in hell I would ever be able to do that. :D

I'm not sure if there is a prize. They should provide a box of Tats or something.:banger

"Each corner has 170 individual pieces." :jd :jd

Would love to see a closeup of a corner.

Here is a shot of one of the inlays by itself. I'm wrong though, I think it's more like 182 pieces. There's 7 pieces in each triangle and there's 22 triangles and 4 parallelograms

That is gorgeous. I wish I had the ability to get my corners that artistically precise. I am just happy when they make 90 degrees.

I can't do 4 perfect 90's for the life of me so don't feel bad. :) They drive me frickin nuts.

Wow what a beautiful piece of art. That would a welcome addition to any collection. Looks like it belongs in a museum.

What's funny is, my friend came in and saw me doing something like this. He said "Here, put these on" They were reading glasses. It was like he opened me up to a new world. I had never seen what I was doing so well before. :r Now I need them all the time.
I'm going to attempt a Sam Maloof rocking chair in the near future. I'll put them to good use for sure. Here is a picture of one of his originals. One of his is for sale for the bargain price of $40.000.00 bucks. Replicas go for around $8000.00. Problem is, you'll put 12k of work into it to build it. :D look closely at the transitions. Everything flows from one piece to another. Someday I'll be sitting back in one smoking a great cigar reading Fine Woodworking (With my reading glasses). (Some day):D
