Hammer and Sickle cigars..anyone try them

I am a sucker for presentation and these cigars are packed in a crystal box (looks damn sexy in the photos)...apparently Hammer and Sickle is a vodka and now they are branching into cigars...has anyone tried one? I am curious.

Just thought I would post a pic to give everyone an idea what they look like:

http://nhcigars.com/images/products/...gars-Large.jpg

The description is:
Hammer & Sickle Cigars - Smooth and Creamy Super Premium wrapper leaf perfectly aged 5 years. Dominican Republic binder and filler. Handmade in Santiago Dominican Republic... The Hammer & Sickle Cigars comes in a crystal glass box, very sharp looking and most definitely a conversation piece.
The box looks cool and the cigars sound interesting. It looks like they average out to about $8.50 a stick for a box...

Is it crystal or plastic?

Says Crystal but I bet plastic...

Supposedly glass.

Funny, everyone seems to be talking about the packaging on these other sites, never about the cigars. This kind of screams "Stay Away!" to me.

I've only seen a deal for the box and matching ashtray for 138.

If looks could kill we'd be in trouble with this one. This is without a doubt one of the finest presentations you will ever see. Twenty super creamy, smooth cigars made in the Dominican Republic by one of the legends in the business that uses a 5 year old Connecticut wrapper with Dominican fillers and binder. Entombed in a crystal box worth the price of admission alone. For a limited time only we'll even throw in a $75.00 matching crystal ashtray. Buy now! Supplies limited!

Contains:
1 ASHTRAY; 20 HAMMER & SICKLE ROBUSTO CONNECTICUT

If I had to guess, the box is made of glass as is the ashtray. No idea on the quality of the cigars though.

Re: Hammer and Sickle cigars..anyone try them

It is glass, The cigar is made by a company that everybody knows and is a a medium body cigar at most but with some good creamy flavors. The quality is extremely high and personally I would pick this over an ashton cabinet anyday. If I have time I'll put a review up sometime this week or next week. Overall its a very good stick. Oh yea and the box is made of glass.

I have had one and it was a very mild cigar. Nothing that made me want to buy another. I have friends though who love them.

Why would a Hammer and Sickle cigars come without a hammer to break the box open and requisite sickle as cutter for the cigars is beyond me, someone in their marketing department seriously screwed up and must be fired.

Looks like marketing grad brain child...you know nice, sexy and mild for the Paris Hilton crowd as they party in their VIP section at the Palms.

Never had one, but just saying...

When soemone goes to those lengths with packaging, often it is to hide a mediocre product. Case in point, Crystal Skull Vodka. I make no judgement on these cigars though, as I have never seen nor tried one.

Put em next to your Maker's Mark Cigar tubos and you have a great start to your very own home "Cigar Bar".

Now if Guinness could just come out with a nice Maduro I'd be all set.

Side story, I tooke the last 4 shots in the bottle of that stuff at a bar once just so I could have the bottle...not worth it! But the bottle looks nice!

I'd gladly try 4 of these for the box :r

*nod* yup.

Also, remember the Warhol cigars? Chitty cigars in a really fancy lexan humidor/box.

Something about sizzle and steak comes to mind. :D

Worked in the liquor biz years ago and cigars is much the same...packaging DOES move product.

I have one that I got at a recent herf, and I'm curious to hear what some people think about them. I've read some reviews, and it seems ok, but I'm still on the fence about what to expect.

Now that's kind of silly.

Since you have one already, just smoke it and make up your own mind.

Hmmm... Heavy notes of rusted iron ore mixed in with freshly cut sin dried wheat and cow dung? You know, typical Russian farm notes...

I agree. I have had a couple samples and they are nothing to write home about. Very generic tasting, imo.

Home distilled brew is called "samogon", nastiest thing there is.

They actually chase it with vodka, believe it or not (a swig of samogon, then a swig of vodka). Although many now only do samogon by itself since they cannot afford vodka.

At least they die happy...

I have the bottle at home, it's very cool....Just can't find anything to mix with the vodka to take out the turpentine tinge. :r

Just spoke with my b&m about these. Apparently they are backordered because the case is supposedly lead crystal, when they shipped to the distributors the cases broke/cracked.

Maybe a collector's item if you can get one intact.

I plan on it...I just got a bunch of cigars at that herf that I've never tried before so I was curious if anyone else had tried them.

I'm a firm believer in the smoke what you like and like what you smoke mentality...I always make up my own mind. :ss

Not really interested. If they were any good I think I would have heard something somewhere about these cigars. Packaging looks like a bunch of hype. Has anyone heard anything about them pro or con? :2
