My little coolidor project
I wanted a small singles unit that would hold 50-70 cigars. (I won't keep more than 30 in this)
The mission was to keep it under $130 and have it hold 65-70 temp/rh. 1. Coolidor - $79 2. (2) trays - $20 3. 1/2 lb beads/bag - $20 4. Hygrometer - $12 I went over my budget by $1 After a few days to get it set up and hygrometer calibrated, it works well and hold temp/rh perfect. We will see how long it last be for it breaks and I have to modify it....:ss http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/f...s/IMG_8879.jpg http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/f...s/IMG_8881.jpg http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/f...s/IMG_8884.jpg http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/f...s/IMG_8885.jpg |
Re: My little coolidor project
that is very interesting, what is the actual unit made from? is it some sort of wine cooler?
|
Re: My little coolidor project
Small 8 bottle wine cooler

Re: My little coolidor project
Nice looking setup you have there. Kudos!
Where did you get those trays, if you don't mind me asking? |
Re: My little coolidor project

Re: My little coolidor project
Yes thermoelectric is preferred however I know some that use regular compressor type fridges without much issue, I believe Scott (Shilala) used compressor ones. The swings in RH are not as much of an issue if you mainly keep boxes in them because the boxes will help buffer the RH and the sticks inside them will stay at a fairly constant RH because it takes a while for the humidity to work its way into the boxes. :2

Nice work; it gives me some ideas! :hm

Re: My little coolidor project
That is a very nice little setup.:tu Gives me an idea. I have a 28 bottle unit but have a major overflow problem and I could use one of those for my ready to smoke stix and my big unit for aging.
Thanks for sharing!:tu |

Re: My little coolidor project
Not to thread jack, but is there a big demand for the little units?
I have seen the little ones in a lot of stores, best buy even has them, and just never gave them a second glance. Chas |

Seriously though, probably not, unless one wants a single stick unit or office unit. PM me if you want internal dimension measurements. |

Re: My little coolidor project
I can do any size tray. I thought about at one time buying one, building trays and offering it as a complete unit ready to go. Just add cigars :D
Just never thought there was a demand for the little ones when for just a little more money you can get a 28 bottle unit. Chas |

It's more than functional for a places where then temp cant get below 70 easy and cheaply. But the pimp in me wants to make it look better...lol PM me with estimated cost for drawers. I'm interested to see how much it ups the ante vs. the cost of a 28 set. |

top down 3.5 - top rack slot 3.5 - middle rack slot .5 - middle rack to bottom The is a fan square in the back the sticks out about 2/8ths and is almost in middle of unit. I would assume that there would have to be space for this to have free flow air. |

Speaking of 28 bottle Vinos, has anyone seen one for sale recently? All stock from Target has expired years ago.
