I smoke cigars, cigarettes, and Hookah. Why should the government have a say in where we smoke or what we smoke?If I happen to get lung cancer or Mouth cancer, God Forbid, that would be by my own doing. I made that mistake but hey it was good while it lasted. Hey Government worry about getting us out of this recession and leave us to the smoking. :ss

Even if I didn't smoke, I'd be against the bans. As long it is an establishment that you have to be 18 to enter, it should be up to the owner/proprietor. If the demand for non-smoking establishments is that high, then they shouldn't have a problem with lost business.

And if I say any more, it would get political. LOL

Why should the Government Have a Say? Because a certain few people in power don't believe people should smoke. How those certain few people got in power, I don't know. But im sure they don't want people doing a lot of things.:2

A lot of people say this isn't the case... however, where I live just had a smoking ban start and it didn't have a noticeable effect anywhere I've been because most restaurants and bars were already non smoking. The free market really will provide non smoking options and plenty of them without the government forcing the issue with bans.

Anti-smoking laws are nothing new. The Ottoman Empire attempted a smoking ban in the early 17th century, 400 years later the war against evil tobacco rages on.

It is truly sad, but what's sadder is we do nothing except complain about our government instead of oppose and fight them, niot that we would win............myself included.

I don't have a problem with bans in public buildings, but if it is a private enterprise, the owner should make the rules. And I find it hard to make it political since there are donkeys from all parties involved.

Easy solution.
Get a space shuttle that seats 535 (435 for House and 100 for Senate).
Send them on a FREE one way ticket to the moon.
That should temporarily solve our smoking problem as we will then be able to smoke all we want, anywhere we want, while we decide who will replace them.

If you feel that Government has a duty to protect its citizens, then you can argue that the owner does not have a right to make his own rules.

There's nothing more annoying or self-righteous than a former smoker. I got into it on a blog on the local news website over our recent legislation here with some of these assclowns.

Its pretty bad that for every past time I have there is an association I need to pay dues for in hopes of being allowed to continue doing it. It makes me so happy to be fighting for all this freedom sometimes. Between the NRA, CRA who knows what the next one will be.

A hookah is also called a shisha and about half a dozen other names. Real popular in the middle east and seems to be catching on in the states is a water pipe that cools the smoke before you get it in your mouth. The tobacco is very sweet and flavored with all kinds of fruits or herb oils. You place charcoal on top of the tobacco then when drawn the smoke enters a bowl with water to cool the smoke before coming up the hose into your mouth. Some of these things look like you are smoking off a giant octopus or Medusa head.

Having tried Hookah for the very first time this year, my reccommendation is don't. :D All you taste are the flavors, no tobacco at all, but it's really harsh even with the water cooling it down. And it was hard not to inhale even though I've never inhaled any type of tobacco before.

And to expand on TFULLERY's statement, without getting too political, it has seemed odd to me that we worry about all these "crisis" topics that seem to be never ending, as our freedom is constantly eroded and more of our money is taken from us "for our own good"?
