Tiger woods hurt in Car Crash..

Professional golfer Tiger Woods was seriously injured in a car accident early this morning, the Florida Highway Patrol just reported.

Woods, 33, pulled out of his driveway in the Isleworth community about 2:25 a.m. when he struck a fire hydrant, and then drove into a tree at his neighbor's property, FHP reported.

Woods was transported to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee in serious condition, FHP said. No other information about his condition has been released.

A Health Central hospital employee said at 2:30 p.m. that Woods was not a patient. A hospital operator would not say if Woods had been treated and released.

FHP said the airbags in Woods' Cadillac Escalade did not deploy, which means the vehicle was traveling under 33 mph.

Orange County Fire Rescue received the call for aid at 2:28 a.m. Woods was transported from his Windermere-area neighborhood by the hospital's own ambulance.

FHP did not report the accident until just after 2 p.m. today. The agency said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

The hospital is near my house and apparantly they were keeping it quiet for a while. I hope he is ok

MSN.com says it was NOT alcohol related. Good to hear it that's the fact. Hoping he is OK too.

All reports are saying that but something doesn't sound right about this, imo.

There does appear to be a lot of "secretism" so far, Greg.

MSN is reporting he is "fine" according to his agent.

Talk about your quick recovery.

Quick recovery indeed, "seriously" injured to fine in matter of minutes!

yea its strange, how can you crash a escalade at 33mph and be seriously injuried, unless something came through the windscreen.

Hmmm all the people I have seen while working who hit a fire hydrant then a tree in the middle of the night were Duece. It takes a lot of effort for a sober person to manage that task. He likely had a few to many.
I am sure they will protect him though.

I hope he is OK, however such an accident sounds like the result of a little bit too much to drink. :2

Pair that will Thanksgiving where people tend to overindulge in spirits with friends and family and it just does not add up. :2

I don't think people usually pull out of their driveways early in the morning, proceed to hit a fire hydrant, and then plow into a tree. There has to be a little more to this story.

Sounds like he's okay according to recent reports, and that's the main thing.

floydpink 11-27-2009 02:01 PM

Re: Tiger woods hurt in Car Crash..

Just a hunch, but I have heard that off camera, Tiger has a pretty bad temper and maybe the 28 room house was too small for him and Ellen and he needed to get away and was taking out some aggression. Just a hunch..

I did see him once at my favorite English pub in Orlando with some Isleworth golf pros one night and he had no problem throwing back a few Vodka and cranberries but his celebrity wouldn't get him off a DUI if he was drunk.

He's also a regular at the Subway sub shop in Windermere, near his house but they wouldn't be open at 2am to fix him a 5 dollar footlong on Thanksgiving.

Maybe he was heading out for some Black Friday shopping? :r
It does sound alcohol-related, but it could also be something like a gas pedal sticking.

Obviously this is total speculation... but why would they say charges were pending? Maybe he was drinking? Maybe there was a domestic before hand? Maybe something else? Seems weird to say charges pending instead of no charges pending at this time.

Maybe he took a few too many pain pills after his knee surgery and now takes one or two every once in a while?

I was thinking the same thing. Plus, when mixed with just one drink it can amplify the effects of the meds greatly.

It's the secrecy of the whole thing that I don't like.

The public will never hear the truth. Some serious spin doctoring will happen here.

I'm afraid you are probably going to be proved correct, Peter.

While I disagree with money and power getting people special treatment, I'd like to think the amount of money he has would be enough to make it happen.

Jeff's point about Paris Hilton is a perfect example.

I am going to take an opposite approach and suggest that he might have a problem with night vision especially if he does not drive much at night. At this time I can see no reason not to take the police at their word. He is too much of a corporate entity unto himself for him to take the risk of a dui. I hope that I am right.

Although there are very good reasons to be skeptical, I'd like to believe it really isn't alcohol related...... not sure we will hear the truth though as others have said. Regardless of the situation, it will be a good thing if the ordeal ends with nobody being seriously hurt

Not sure at all how this would apply? Racist fire hydrant?

I have no idea whether alcohol, painkillers, etc. were involved. All I am saying is that we'll never know the truth - especially if they were. I share the sentiment that I hope he is not seriously injured.

Has any of Sharpton's comments on anything ever applied? Given an opportunity to get some air time, you know he will be there. Why we give knuckleheads like him the time of day is beyond me.

true, I may be giving Sharpton too much credit that he wouldn't try to find something to get worked up about in any kind of a situation.

I have a friend that has relatively no money, has never spent a day in jail and has 2 DUI's.....

Money is power, but it also puts a spotlight on everything that happens around you. Dirt on celebrity is money, BIG MONEY. Especially if it is on someone as squeaky clean as T.W..... Doubt Tiger ran into a pole loaded, started promising millions to whoever would cover this up.....the line would GET LONG.....

In the end, if there is something sketchy involved, probably will come out. I ran into a barricade stone cold sober in the middle of the day, just wasn't paying attention and missed a turn.....(was looking at a BB Court that I was meeting friends at to see which court they were on)

Who knows, maybe Tiger was looking at some hottie running down his road, veered off and..... Maybe he reached down to grab his cell phone that dropped....

After an afternoon nap, and time to reflect on the developments, I have concluded that it is more than likely Tiger was headed to pick up fellow Isleworth resident Shaq and they were headed over to Walmart to brave the crowds for Black Friday.:D

Apparently there are reports Woods is having an affair... Makes me think more and more this could be domestic, or at least an argument that resulted in him storming off due to his temper.

TMZ reported he had taken prescription pain meds AND that his injuries were caused by his wife. Said his wife had confronted him about him possibly having an affair and that she scratched his face and then chased after him with a golf club apparently.

If his Dad were still alive,he would not be a happy man.

You ask why? Because if it was booze or a alleged affair or whatever,Pop would have been disappointed in the boy. No if's and's or buts.

Glad that we are using TMZ as a reliable source. Another one reporting crap is the Enquirer. A man's lifetime of work and good deeds is thrown away because he and Elin might have had a fight? I remember when there were warnings from the mods about jumping to conclusions on an issue. Going back to being a hermit until this is resolved.

Whatever you may think of them, TMZ and the Enquirer has a record of breaking major stories that the regular media didn't touch. And yes, they have reported bogus stuff too, but so has "reputable" news outlets. And it's not just TMZ that is reporting it, the Police have come out and said as much about why they want to question the both of them.

You know I love you much, Paul, but I don't agree that this is a Mod issue at this point. All the facts will come out I am sure, but people will speculate about celebrities, that is the nature of the beast.

How ever the sticks may fall in this, I'd place money that it was related to a domestic dispute. Perhaps he fled as his wife was bashing his car with a golf club and he was paying more attention to her than the road.

Ever since he has been 21, Tiger has been chased by people with golf clubs.

The guy is human and hopefully can catch a break. The helicopters have been buzzing over his neighborhood for 2 days now which, along with a damaged tree, must have him less than popular in Isleworth this week.
