Happy Thanksgiving
 

Dear friends:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I do not hang out here as much as some do, but I do find CA a pleasant distraction. I have also made some friends here, some whom I'd love to meet sometime - and others I have met. For you all - I am thankful.

I was also doing some thinking the other day about CA and other such places. How many of us are willing to spill our guts here and talk about things here that we'd never talk about with family or the people that we are in contact every day? It is safe here. While we may talk here and be friends, there is a safety zone built in that insulates us from real intimacy and therefore from real hurt.

That being said, I have seen incredible support here for one another. Ihave been on other boards, and there is always some sort of infighting that takes place - I have not seen that here.

What I have seen here, are people giving selflessly to help others in need - to help the troops. For the attitude here - I am thankful!

I also want to say how thankful I am to have those around me, my wife and children, and my extended family. I have been blessed beyond belief.

I hope you all take a moment to appreciate all that you have been given by God.

Some years back I started making everyone at the table on Thanksgiving, one by one as we ate, take turns telling everyone what they were thankful for. The first year or two the kids would make a joke about it and say something stupid to get laughs. As time went on and they matured the response began to get more and more insightful, meaningful and heartfelt. Its a great time to share the true meaning of family and sometimes learn something about them you never knew before.

Take a few moments to share the memories and before you know it you just may find yourself smiling and sharing who the man was.
