Favorite Maduros

Since the weather started turning chilly, I've been smoking a few more maduros. It's something about the cold weather. I also like to drink stouts and porters during the winter. This morning I smoked a RP Old World Reserve and it was a great cigar. It got me thinking about maduros because like all cigars, they are not created equally. Here's my list of current favorites:

Camacho Triple maduro
Camacho SLR
RP Old World Reserve
601 maduro (blue?)
Fuente Chateau Fuente

I'm sure some of you like the padrons and the JJ maduro (I have one in the humi), but I haven't had a chance to try those yet. What are your favs? Sorry if this is a repeat thread.

That's good to hear. I picked up a box of those a while back on the cheap. Thanks for the ideas. I forgot about the Ashton Aged Maduro. I haven't had one in at least 10 years, but I used to really like them.

Many of the selections above are relative newbies. For an oldy but goodie, try a El Rey Del Mundo Rectangulare. (Honduran) Hard to beat!

I enjoy most of the Oliva line, but their maduros are my favorites. Haven't had this years V, but I liked 2008's so I see a future box of 09's:banger

The first box purchase that I spent real money on was the ERdM robusto maduros. I believe they were like $80, and worth every penny.

still there! http://www.jrcigars.com/index.cfm?pa...itemcode=RMROL

I think Honduran tobacco can be really damn good if you know what to buy and what to ignore. The ERdMs kinda remind me of a Fuente Don Carlos or something similar.

It's been so long since I browsed JR's.

This is the end all be all of maduro cigar IMO. The OWR is damn good too, but the 601 is just about perfection.

All maduros, per topic

Didn't care for the 601s OTT, but have several that
have been sleeping for about a year. Maybe I'll try
one for the Eagles game tomorrow.

Check out Tobacco Road in Arlington, TX.
They just got in boxes of '09 V maduros,
according to a post on CPass.
Open Sundays.

Wish I had the coin, but saving a bit b4 Xmas.
I have 2 '08 V maddies, but haven't tried them yet.
I loved the V naturals, so the maddies are bound to
be extra special, IMHO.

Re: Favorite Maduros

I seem to have this love/hate relationship with maduros. I initally love them, but soon, I start to dislike them. Currently, I'm smoking a CAO Sopranos which is very good. I think maybe it's the sometimes over the top sweetness and spice that turn me off. Too much of a good thing maybe? Maduros to me are like the chocolate covered cherries of cigars. Good once in awhile, but not for everyday.
