WTF????
It's starting to cool down here in Wi which means the rodents are trying to find there way into the house. Had a mouse in the house yesterday and that cat proved her value. Just snapped the sucker with one swat. So we rearmed the traps and prepare to fend off the seasonal invaders. Then tonight we hear a trap snap and this is what we catch. WTF???
If you do not like rodents do not click the links. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/grash/web/P1020400.JPG https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/grash/web/P1020402.JPG (sorrry don't have access to photoshop at the moment so I couldn't resize the pics) And whatever that was sticking out of the lump on the back of the dead mouse was moving. My skin is still crawling and I am not particularly thin skinned. That was just freaking nasty. Anyone have any ideas on WTF that nastiness was? It's like some other creepy crawly burrowed into the living mouse and was just making itself at home. It was on the back so I don't think it was babies. The part sticking out also looked somewhat insectoid/arachnid so I don't know if there is some kind of crazy spider or something. |
Re: WTF????
It was probably some type of worm.

I agree!!! WTF indeed!!!
:jd Chris..... |
Re: WTF????
I suppose it could be a worm that just seemed pretty big. The diameter of the end sticking out was like a decent sized night crawler. Anyone know of any links to info about a parasitic worm of this size?

I think you nailed it with the bot fly. It looked pretty much just like this example but with a bigger lump. *** shiver *** freaking nasty.

Like I said I'm not generally squeamish but this was pretty repulsive. I don't even want to think about the brain worms. Thanks for helping me figure out what it was. The good news is the human infecting botflys don't seem to live north of mexico. I took a shower anyway. :P |
