Curved cabinet progress

Hi Guys, this is a little project I'm doing. It's a curved humidor cabinet. The wood is Bubinga, Waterfall Bubinga and Gabon Ebony. No ebony yet but that will be next week. It's 57" wide, 42" tall and 32" deep. all 4 sides are bent lamination's. Behind what will be the 3 front doors will be shelves on the 2 outer sides and drawers up the middle. Should hold a couple cigars. Enjoy my friends.

This pic is just lacquer thinner, no finish.

This is one coat of Tung oil.

Hi Bill, just curious if this is the first cabinet you've done. Your website only has pics of desktop humidors.

Re: Curved cabinet progress

Yes and no.:tu I've built a few hand made kitchens but this is my first cabinet humi. I've had to do a lot of research to get it right though. I think the biggest factors are taking into consideration wood movement due to the high humidity inside, containment of the humidity and proper circulation. I think I've got it all worked out. :tu It will be thoroughly tested before it ships to Illinois.
I just finished putting Ebony tips on the legs. They look like long legs in stilettos.:banger

Right on there. Looks like a moire pattern, or even a Mandelbrot set.

Either that, or I'm having another flashback. :r

Re: Curved cabinet progress

Thank you.
I felt it needed something to kick it up a notch, An inlay seemed to take away from the WFB. Myself and Scott decided an Ebony trim piece around the WFB was just the trick.

Very subtle, but it really makes for a nice contrast. :tu

Re: Curved cabinet progress

Thanks very much. I really felt it was important to keep the figure in the Bubinga the main focus. An intricate inlay may have redirected the focus away from it. I'm hoping to be on to the insides this week.:)

Looks good. That black trim gives it more dept also.
