2009 Pipe Order Thread
 

Alright guys, here's what needs to be done.

J.M. has signed off on the shape and all that, it's going to be the same general color theme as the one pictured for smooth pipes, obviously rusticated will be black.

Ok, everyone needs to call the Boswells (717-264-1711) with credit card, address, and preference on smooth or rusticated.

They'll be shipped out in the order your information is received. Also, go to their website first ( www.boswellpipes.com ) and pick out a tobacco for your 1oz sample. Every pipe will come with a sleeve, 1oz baccy sample, czech tool, and cleaners. Pipes will be no less than $100 and no more than $120 with smooth costing more (so this fits our original price range). Once 5-6 are done they will ship out in batches.

Also, you will probably be able to get a pipe quicker if you don't mind a mix of smooth and rusticated. However if you absolutely only want smooth, that's ok, but it may take longer. Just keep that in mind. So if you put smooth on the sign up, it's ok to ask for rusticated, but just tell them.

You can say, I want smooth first, but rusticated is ok too, or vice versa, or tell them smooth only, I'm willing to wait. Feel me?

So start calling tomorrow, he's already made a couple, and post up here once you've called so I can keep track of things and comunicate with them about the goings on. I would like this to go as smoothly as possible as it is both a reflection on our forum and on me, and I would like to keep my amicable relationship with them.

Please call them up ASAP and talk to Dan or J.M. with your info. Tell them it's for the Asylum 1 ed pipe.

I am currently unable to make any calls as the telephone company is repairing some nearby lines. I have emailed the Boswells however, to see if I can mail in my information and pipe request.

I just placed my order. I have never spoken to J.M. before, and I can let you guys know that he is a great guy, and very helpful. I was honest with him, and told him that I had never smoked a pipe before but just could not let this club edition pipe go without buying one. He said to look at his site for some smoking information, and then after I smoke the pipe a few times to give him a call and they will answer any and all questions or concerns I have. I think going through Boswells was a great idea. I cant wait!

Thank goodness! I just had to drop 700 on my car today so that blow more then my budget for anything!

Just placed my order this morning with Dan.

I picked Sweet Tea for my free 1 oz of tobacco. Haven't tried that one yet, so we'll see.

Got a hold of them today.

Order placed, I went the easy route and said either smooth or rusticated was fine, so I'll most likely be getting a rusticated haha.

thanks for the kind words guys, and for being patient. I would have liked to have had this rolling along a while back, but unfortunately life would rather keep me busy.

Just got off the phone with them. I ordered my mix smooth and rusticated and got the Sweet Tea as my sample. Also ordered 2 ounces each of the Chocolate Cram and Christmas Cookie tobaccos.

My info was mailed in today. Ordered a rusticated, surprisingly, and a Peaches and Cream sample because I unfortunately forgot what I wanted to begin with :rolleyes: I was so mad at myself lol.

And now we wait :ss I've got a new Punch cigar-box guitar to bang around on while I do so at least :) tobacco is amazing :D

Just wanted to add, that last part is funny if you read my signature right below it - these things never work out for me *sigh*

And Tim, I just wanted to say again how much I appreciate you setting this up; there's no greater joy in pipe smoking than smoking your first 'real' pipe, initials and all. It's great to see that the glory days of CS are able to thrive and flourish here on CA, with the camaraderie and friendships that I've been shown in the tobacco community.

Well I also receieved a call from Dan Boswell this morning about my pipe. They are shipping it out today so I should have it friday or monday.

But I wanted to say a BIG thank you to all of you guys for taking up a collection for my pipe (and to the Boswell's for capping it off) and making my pipe FREE!

You guys are the best, and I really really appreciate it. Not only for the thought and gesture, but also because I wasn't quite sure I could afford it right now. So it was also a blessing to hear him say that it was taken care of.

Thank you all so much, I cannot truly express my gratitude, but I will never forget your generousity, and will always enjoy smoking this pipe so much more. Thanks again!

She has arrived!!!

I love how mine turned out. A nice, dark and rich color. The smooth parts have a mute grain definition and it goes wonderfully with the rusticated sections. When I talked to Dan originally I told him to just do with it what they wanted, that I just wanted some smooth.

I like the shape, the way the rim is cut, and love those thick walls... The partial rustication is cool, too.
I'm just not crazy about the stem, but I bet it will smoke like a champ.

How did your pipe ship? UPS, Fed-Ex, or USPS? I live out in Oregon, so if it was sent UPS or Fed-Ex I may have to wait awhile, but if it was USPS then hopefully I can get it tomorrow or Monday. Also, does anyone know if on a "smooth" option of this pipe, the top of the bowl will still be rustic like the one posted? I love the top part being rustic, but was hoping the rest would be smooth on my pipe.

Also, I love the shape of the pipe, and the flat bottom for easy resting.

I kind of like that stem, mostly because it isn't the most popular choice out there.
If I remember correctly he charged me $118 for it, but I don't have my check book handy and they still haven't cashed my check.

It came to me via UPS, and I think they ship everything that way. For me though, UPS is faster for packages coming from outside of Virginia, but USPS is faster in-state.

It is supposed to be sunny (and hot) tomorrow, so hopefully I will get a chance to start breaking her in.:dance:
