My friend and I were up until 4 AM Saturday night just talking about the hopstage situation and how the Navy should simultaneously snipe the pirates holding the captain.
This just shows off the talent and skill of our servicemen.
I got to announce to our Easter table that they got the pirates. Times like these your proud to be an American.

Those Navy snipers were unreal.
Two separate boats rocking. Critical shots only to be taken once.
Nailed them!!!

Oh what joy!!!

Do these people not watch the news.

You are a "PIRATE" and you wanna pick a fight with the greatest military ever assembled.

You throw as much as a rock at one of our ships and we will crush your entire organization like a bug.

They asked for it! Most Somali pirates live in small coastal villages, so we're not talking about Mogadishu here. What do you guys think?

There's still 230 hostages in Somalia that do not have the US Navy Seals to help them out. I hope their fate is not sealed due to our actions. I am glad were able to show our stuff to the world watching under a new president. He certainly faired better than Carter and Clinton under similar circumstances when they were president.

The world needs to get on the same page and figure out how to deal with these pirates as if affects everyone.

Re: Somali Pirates

In a recent conversation on a gun forum, there was a question posed to a Marine asking what he felt when he shot a terrorist.

He shrugged his shoulders and replied, "recoil?"

At that point, I realized I have missed my life's calling and am now too old to correct that oversight.

One saving grace is the castle doctrine here in Florida which allows intruders to be shot and assumed to be a deadly threat.

Re: Somali Pirates

I suppose a history class might have prevented this situation from its inception if the Pirates simply understood the phrase "From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli."
Yes, I know the shooters were Navy Seals, not Marines, but the sentiment, and the continent is the same.

First thing I thought of.

I have heard two different distances reported 20-30 meters and 100 meters. A.308 would would just fine at those ranges. I read they took head and shoulders shots.

At those ranges I think I could make the shots with an M16A2, however with the boat rocking it might be a little trickier, but an M4 with a scope would probably fix that problem too. Don't know if they necessarily used a sniper rifle for this, and if they did, I'm fairly sure it wasn't a .50 cal, as those rip people apart at distances over half a mile, can't imagine what they'd do at 100m.

Glad we finally took some action here. I was on the phone talking to my grandma and she was wondering why we haven't sent in a SEAL team to take care of the problem. I thought to myself that we probably had, but we just weren't allowed to know about it yet... Anyway I talked to her for about 30 minutes and checked the news, and I let her know what happened. I felt good about it.

As far as the military getting involved with the situation, I support it, we shouldn't have to deal with problems like this, nor should any other country. I say we take out the problem. Hell, if we're going someone put me on a plane (I'll set up communication...) and if need be I'll use a weapon.

My son and I had been sitting around wondering why the Navy just didn't send the Seals in under cover of darkness to play "pop the pirate". All I can say is IT WAS ABOUT TIME!

Now we can all sit back and listen to all the wussy hand wringers talking about how the evil U.S. has just made the situation worse by murdering those three law abiding Somailian patriots. I can't wait for some pillar of human rights to stand up and call for a UN trial in international court charging the Seals with murder.

I think the pirates have watched Pirates of the Caribbean and some of the other romantic Hollywood movies too many times...

Lots of SF types like to modify the M14 and use it for sniping/sharpshooting etc.

Way to go boys ... if you're ever in my neck of the woods, beers are on me. About frickin time those scum face bullets instead of stacks of $100 bills. Next time they need to give them counterfeit money then blow them out of the frickin water after they head back to shore/mothership. A few months of 99% mortality and pirating won't seem to be such a good option anymore.

Yeah! When has the "walking on eggshells" ever put a swift end to bad behavior?
Maybe not nukes, though. Do we still have big gun battleships? Crater the coastline. Could you imagine the soiled pants if a battleship or two parked off their ports and swiveled it's guns around.
