Glock 23 build

I just picked up a Glock 23 today and would like to know if anyone here has one that they have put aftermarket parts on and how they like them. I would really like to know what kind of aftermarket barrels people are using. Also, anything else you think I should know about the 23.

Why not stick it in a holster and call it good?

Re: Glock 23 build

well i for one dont like the the plastic guide rod so i went with stainless, i dont like the heavy trigger so i went with the 3.5lb. i also dont like the fact my pinkie doesnt rest comfortably on the grip so i went with the pinkie extender. glock is a glock and i wouldnt trust my life with any other but it is not perfect right out of the box :2

I heard that there are some issues with shooting certain rounds with the stock barrel. Just a few mods I want to make since it will be my carry weapon.

I can say that with a stock 17 that has had thousands of rounds through it in the last 10 years, dirty/clean didn't matter, that's why I was wondering about changing parts on them, although I do agree with replacing the plastic guide rod.

I've been looking at the LW barrels, pretty good price on those things.

^This. I probably have 20,000 rounds through my 17, can't remember ever having a malfunction. I can see the mag extention if you have large hands, but Glocks are pretty damn good right out of the box. My only other suggestion would be night sights since it will be your carry gun.

I put a glock together for my sister with stuff mostly from lone wolf. She really loves that pistol. I will put one together for me here in the fall. It all depends what you need from your pistol. but like everyone has said it will do just about anything right out of the box.

Honestly, I say shoot it and then see if you want to change anything. If it has the "target trigger" with the ridges, I would change that out, over long periods of shooting it tends to rub your finger raw.

That may or may not be a future issue for you God forbid you should ever need to draw and pull the trigger.
For concealed carry, I would not consider trigger modifications.
For home defense, heck yeah.

100% THIS
Honestly I have no problem with the stock 5.5# trigger. Heck my department installs the 8# trigger in all of our guns and I shoot it just fine.

I don't change a thing on my Glocks. There is a reason why they call it "Glock Perfection"

Which rounds are you talking about? I have a 32c but swap barrels to shoot 40s and never had an issue. Did you get the 4th gen?

I love glocks and carry but its jammed on more than one occasion so I mostly carry my Smith and Wesson 340PD.

^^^Could not agree more^^^ But like the old saying goes "keep your booger picker off the trigger."

This! I would not go screwing around with something that doesn't need it....it is not some sexy competition gun, it is a Glock, meant for self defense and it WILL go bang everytime straight from the box!

I put some Trijicon night sights on mine. Thats all I've done in the almost 10 yrs I've owned it.

This is why I ask questions here and not go off of what all the tool bags on the interwebs say. Practical knowledge of things that I need to know. Thanks for all the info guys, I've already learned way more than I thought I would.

Re: Glock 23 build

There is nothing it really "needs", put a nice set of sights on it and move. Save your money for mags, holsters & ammo

If you still feel the need to change anything install a 3.5# connector - it makes a nice difference at the range.

Don’t get sucked in by all that crap they sell, its not a 1911
