Walk in humidor finally done

3 Attachment(s)
Well, after way too many delays, my walk in humidor was finally finished today. Next on my list of things to do is find the cigars to fill it up!

I got in contact with a place in Miami called Wood Projections that builds walk in humidor kits. The paneling, molding, and shelving in the room are all made out of Spanish cedar (of course!). They shipped the kit to me, and I had some carpenters install it for me. The kit included the temperature/humidity control that you can see in the picture.

Wow, that is awesome and I am envious. That is my dream. I tell my wife all the time that our next house needs to have a basement so I can build a walk-in humidor and a small smoking lounge. Great job!

"Hey honey do you want a new kitchen.... No I'm not planning a thing.. I just love you so much i want you to be happy" Is that how the conversation went? Teach me. ;)

That was my dream as well! When my wife and I bought our house we were tired of freezing while smoking outside during the winter. So we had a room built into the basement with two fans to pull out all the smoke. A friend of ours built us a great poker table. It's so amazing and convenient that I can't imagine living without a smoke room now!

lol it was much easier than that. It was more like "Honey I want a kitchen" and "Honey I want a smoke room/walk in humidor". Both of us wanted what we wanted bad enough to give in to the other. :D

This would be awesome. Hard to find basements in Phoenix though. Also, I am curious how people vent the smoke? I'd be worried about it stinking up the rest of the house.

To the O.P. -- Beautiful! I hope I can have something similar one day!

My smoke room has two vents that suck all the smoke outside. They do a great job to keep the smell from going to the rest of the house.

The total cost was about $5,000. When I think to all the use the humidor is going to get in the coming years I think it was well worth it. :D

Not a bad investment for so much enjoyment!

Re: Walk in humidor finally done

Very cool... I am wanting to do the same thing someday. I found a place on the net that ships kits just like that but the shipping was almost as much as the spanish cedar lumber. I am leaning more towards a self contained humidor now. I think we are going to be selling this house and buying a bigger one with a basement eventually. Then it is gonna be serious man cave with a walk in hopefully! Great job on the build!

Also resale is a pretty good turn around for humidors if he decides to sell the house. He should at least make his money back if not more. Should be easy if the buyer is into cigars or would think about getting into them.
