I don't but you'd be better off asking over on Glock talk or the subforum on ar15.com There are several conversions and I know one was mentioned being the best but I don't know which. You got a lot of .22lr? If not, that's had to find right now too it seems.

Thanks. There's two I've seen. Advantage Arms (better of the two from what I can discern) and Tactical Solutions. Price is around $300-350 for the kit, if you can find one. At that price, I could get a new pistol, but I like the idea of shooting my Glock to develop a rhythm with it. As for having any .22lr. I have some, but not much. And you're right, good luck finding any.

So I did a search on glock talk and found a lot of good info. Looks like I'll order one. Now to find ammo.

I got lucky and picked up 1500 rounds of the CCI tactical stuff (the stuff they test for the 15.22 platforms). Wishing I picked up double that now!

Getting a new gun safe tonight. http://www.menards.com/main/p-1908092-c-6977.htm

It is $599.99 and then it has a $100 main in rebate, so $499 when all is said and done :tu

It will be an improvement because right now I just have a cheap Stack-On safe that doesn't have fire protection.

Nice Dan. I love mine, it's great peace of mind (although that fire protection won't help if the house is burning for toooo long, or protect it from water. Friend found that out... then had to have a locksmith drill it!)

How bad was everything inside? Any pictures? I'm lucky I live within 1/2 mile of the local station but i still went with fire protection.

No pics, I don't remember all the details, happened about 15 years ago. Coincidentally, my friend lived 200tds from the local station too!

I think he had some minor problems with heat, but most of his problem was the water that got in from the firemen and then the 48ish hours afterwards before the locksmith was able to get it open, as far as I can remember...

I'm looking for a AR stripped flat top upper or possibly a complete upper with a 16" or shorter barrel if any of Y'all end up with extras to sell.

Francis,
I am fortunate to have an awesome safe supplier near me who did a great job of educating me on the differences in safes. He has a collection of brands, mostly higher end and also the lower end ones.
In the back of the store, he has a collection of them for display of what can happen to them.
Once you see those compromised/damaged safes, it makes the selection process so much simpler.

Here is his website as I think there is a decent video on there for education.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

If you want to build it from the ground up, Midway has a stripped flat top upper for $109, be about $126 after you add in the forward assist and ejection port cover (all in stock)

If you want to go the SBR route, I have a Daniel Defense 12.5" barrel which they mistakenly sent me, I'm sending it back tomorrow, but you're welcome to it for whatever I paid (I think $279) -- you'll still need a barrel nut, gas block/tube, and hand guard.

Charging handles are still readily available, $20-$45

The bolt carrier group is a B!TCH to find right now. Single hardest part to locate, more so than lowers.

Otherwise, I've seen Palmetto sporadically getting in a few 16" uppers for sale in the last few days. But over course, You're looking it probably a 4-5 weeks shipping delay from them. I ordered a 16" upper minus BCG from them on 12/31 and am still waiting for shipment. (they're good people, they'll ship, just taking a while)

LOL.... Aim Surplus had a 16" spikes midlength COMLETE upper, BCG and all, upper for $500, theoretically.

It got posted on slick guns. Site went down 2 minutes later and hasn't come back up :r

:noon

It took an HOUR of trying, but I got one!!!!!

Special Ops Tactical 16" Midlength .223/5.56 Upper Receiver Group, INCLUDES BCG, no handguard
$543 after shipping and tax! (just my luck on the tax, but still, not complaining).

EXACTLY what I was looking for, a 16" midlength. I'd never heard of special ops tactical, but apparently it's run by a former Spike's guy, and its GTG gear. So I can officially stop collecting parts now! well, almost.. Just gotta get 13-15" FF handguard for it....

I'll have to sell some other AR stuff I was messing with, including a 16" carbine I had settled for, but this will be nicer, simpler, and cheaper in the end.

I wasn't sure how the engraving would turn out, it was a pretty intricate image, and I didn't want anything "too" obvious, more like a subtle inside joke. But I think it went well, can't wait to for the upper and grips to arrive next week.

Nice Pro Carry there :tu
My Ultra Carry II has a bit of wear, but still shoots great.

As long as you have time and a few months to wait, shouldn't be too hard. things are slowly starting to trickle back into supply (that or I'm getting better at finding the parts I want :r)

While I have two ARs, aside from shooting them, my knowledge is limited to the breakdown for cleaning.
I am curious as to what it takes to build one and why so many go that route v. buying one from a major manufacturer. Some of the prices on parts I see seem to add up to more than one already built.
What exactly is the list of parts one would need aside from an upper, lower and lower parts kit?

an armorers tool and some roll pin punches. If you want to get it right a torque wrench and a vise and receiver blocks.
