Agreed on the Hawks D-men, the Blues' game plan will be to dump and hit. Can Keith, Hjallmarsson, Leddy and Oduya take the beatings for 6-7 games? Big question, that and the health of Toews and Kane.

Ask Adam about Rask, his Bruins fan opinion is always entertaining.... :D

Agreed on all points. Health is definitely the issue with Chicago...regardless of of the last 6 games, the Blues will come to win the cup. I am betting that Miller is out for blood, and we will see something really special this playoffs.

Kings have the same problem (different degrees obviously) as Columbus. Sharks have great primary talent, but I don't think they will overwhelm Quick. Who knows, Sharks always find a way to lose the big one. :S

I really like the Aves, much like Tampa, so much momentum and synergy there, but think they are too young to go deep. Obviously would love to be proven wrong.

Rangers shot themselves in the foot with that late trade. Don't they know St. Louis is a #2, not the main attraction? Who is the clear #1 on the Rangers? Nash? Not even playing with Martin. It's like Rangers wanted all rounded players...never seen that really work out other than the legendary millennial Red Wings, except they are pretty much all HoFers. Will the Rangers get their **** together by the time they meet the Penguins? I think not.

Rangers are a tough matchup for the Flyers, but I'd love to see them face the Pens in the second round!

Unfortunately, Ducks won last night....tonight would have been for #1 in the West.

Roy is a shoe in for the Jack Adams

Varlamov a coin flip for Vezina

Mackinnon should win Calder easily

He'll of a run for the Avs...

If I was any team in the West, I'd want no part of the Avs...

Re: NHL '13-'14 Season Thread

Biggest thing going against the Avs is there overall lack of playoff experience. They are much like the Hawks in 2009, when the Hawks lost in the Conference Finals to Detroit. I think the Avs may have a Cup in their near future, but I don't think it will be this year.

Marc, gotcha....LOVE me some playoff hockey, regardless of who takes the Cup. OK, as long as it ain't St Louis. :r

E.J., those are three great series for sure. Lemme say right now, Sharks V. Ducks and Hawks V. Avs in round 2. ;)

Did the NHL.com bracket challenge, and those were my 1st round picks, 8 for 8. :tu

Besides the Hawks for obvious reasons, really looking forward to the Kings-Sharks series in the West, as well as Habs-Bolts and Flyers-Rangers in the East.

Tom, are you feeling good about playing a St. Louis team that appears to be going down in flames, losing their last 6, scoring only 5 goals, allowing 22 in those 6..... Or worried about who they appeared to be 10 days ago?

I think the Blues will bring it regardless of who is in their line-up, E.J.. Their plan will most likely be "dump and hit" and wear down the 4 smaller D-men for the Hawks. If Kane and Toews are healthy, the Hawks will counter this with speed. I am not over-confident, but I think the Hawks take it in 6 or 7, talking from my head and not my heart.

They did. But, playoffs are a different animal. Reg season record doesn't mean much.

I heard Z is skating today. No word on a timetable for his return though. Can't wait till Friday night.

No question the Bruins are physical on a couple lines...but I am pretty sure Kronwall ain't worried about any of them. And I am not a Wings or Kronwall fan, I've just seen some hits.;)

I'm with Tom. I know overall the Bruins are more physical but your forwards best have their heads up when bringing the puck out of their own zone. All 10 of those videos were the same play.

That said, I'm hoping the young legs the Wings have in the lineup will help generate some speed to offset some of that physical play.

This will be like a boxing match...body blows... body blows..when the arms come down knock out:)

I'm sure the B's are well aware of Kronwell?

I'm sorry but The Bruins are not worried about playing any team in the NHL,It's the other way around.

You are what your record says you are, and that is the best team in the league.:D

Bruins in six:banger

icehog3 04-16-2014 02:12 PM

Re: NHL '13-'14 Season Thread

Bruins have absolutely been the best team in the league, John, and I don't think the Wings will be able to best them in a series this year.

That being said, of the last 6 "best teams in the league", only one has won the Stanley Cup, so don't go clearing any space in the trophy case just yet. ;)

Penguins pull one out, BJs gave them all they could handle.

Ducks hang on....barely.

Habs outplay the Bolts all game, but need OT to steal home ice.

I LOVE playoff hockey.

Let's Go Hawks! :D

Can't believe that the Stars came back and made a game of it. I sacked out(let my better half take control of the bedroom television remote) at the first intermission, confident that it was going to be a blowout.

GO AVS!

I was up until the wee hours watching last night. Paying for it today at work. The double minor by Akeson obviously really cost the Flyers. I thought the Flyers game plan was solid (dump, chase, check), but the PP goals by the Rangers hurt.

Giroux was invisible last night. The series won't last long unless he can get something going.

After that, watched the Blues/Hawks. Very entertaining, as was the little bit of the Avs/Wild game I saw. Good stuff. :tu
