Mark, Coach and (pffft) Cole, you're on.
You'll have to do all the ciphering when this is over, Cole. :D
I'm still taking all comers, 3 to 1. How the heck can you not take a shot at that? Plus I got lucky 2 weeks in a row and won all my bets (I think). No way I can win again. Ask Cole. It's humanly impossible.
PLUS, last time I played Matt he whooped me 192 to 122.
It's a no-brainer. I might even bet myself.

If I were you I would bet against myself Scott!

Just start digging now, you are losing this time....your luck has run dry :D

After an 80 point drubbing at the hands of Matt, I can still land in the playoffs if Shonn Greene scores 6.4 points tonight.
My guess is that he gets carted off in the 1st quarter.

HAHA that would be very unfortunate for him and you! I am thinking you will be in, he is playing against the Titans...I predict he gets like 18+ points!

Little matter to me at this point. I was thinking I might get to play spoiler, but my bro handled his own business by :sl you around! Of course, I always like to win, even if it is the lowest scoring matchup this league has seen this season. So to that end, good luck in the playoffs Shilala. I am confident that Shonn will score enough to get me the win. (and not enough to keep me out of the finals in another league, where I have a 43 point lead in the semis.)

If Jeremy puts his ff entry smokes in there, they'll get to me in plenty of time for sending prizes. Will you drop him a pm to that effect, Cole? (I'm thinking we're still waiting on him, Stephen and Matt? I know Matt and Stephen have their smokes ready, they just suck at post office. :lr)
I think that next year we should give up cell #'s to the main man (you) so you can burn off text announcements and reminders if necessary. Many guys just aren't here all the time and that'd be a huge help to keep them looped, ya think?

Matt has had an awesome team all year. With the matchups we had, I expected a pretty good whooping. I was pressed for time this week or I'd have built a new team, not that it would have helped. I even forgot about the Thursday night game, Weeze and I missed it. We NEVER miss a game. I left Bryce Brown in by mistake and I knew that set the tone for my beatdown. :D

I'm sure Matt will share his smokes with you, you win no matter what, my friend!!! :tu

Yeah, the texting thing would work for me. I have Jeremy's number, and texted him last Friday (or Thursday :sh ) I'll shoot him another and see what's up. I told him to put his entry smokes in...probably wouldn't fit though :r ...the pass and that would be acceptable too.

Ah I shouldn't have let it come down to this. I lost to Steven in like week 3 or 4 by 5 points because I didn't start a flex or a kicker. That was my fault, just didn't have the time to fully participate like I did in baseball. Maybe I'll put up a better fight next year! :) Best of luck to the guys that made the playoffs!

PS Mark I have a nice T52 pig waiting for you to sit Shaun Green. Lol!

I texted with Jeremy this morning. He said he would send out the box to Scott (Sofaman) today, for sure, and that he sent this sticks for the buy in to Scott (Shilala) on Monday, so they should be getting there soon.

He also said that he probably wouldn't be taking anything from the pass this go around...things were crazy this past week for him.

Just wanted to give an update.

Absolutely, Cole. It usually works really good, too.
We generally have good competition in the loser's bracket, then I remember to send the cigars about 8 months later, right Matt? :D

HAHAHAHA, well if I win, I'll try my best to not let you forget :D

Yahoo only shows the teams 5-8 playing in the consolation bracket. Do you think we should include everyone (asked to everyone)? If so, how should we do scores?

Ideas:
-Top two teams (no head to head) from this week play next week for "winner of losers bracket"?
-Top two teams (no head to head, BUT, 5th place gets spotted 25 points, 6th, 20 points, 7th 15 points, 8th 10 points, 9th 5 points, 10th 0 points) gives everyone a chance at it?

Just trying to be fair and throwing out some ideas...what you all think?

If you guys want to do something outside of Yahoo! I can keep track of it...I think I am pretty good at that ;)

Or we can leave it alone and let the head to head this week play out for teams 5-8 and then the winners play for the next round.

This is the best choice IMO. I hate getting (and giving) points in FF. It's already unpredictable enough that everyone has a good shot. Good call Cole.

Ok, here is what I think we should do based on Mark's comment and to be as fair as possible.

all 6 consolation bracket teams are in a running at winning the bracket.

the 3 top scoring teams from this week (week 16) in the consolation bracket will move forward to next week's championship.

The top scoring team from next week (week17) will win the consolation bracket.

This eliminates 3 teams in week 16, and allows 3 chances at the winnings.

If no disagreement, I will keep track of this and post in the thread who moves on and who is out. Good luck to all!

If you're going to do that, you'd almost have to seed this week. 5, 10, 7 and 6, 9, 8 go head to head, then the winner of those two brackets go head to head in week 17.
I don't think it's a bad idea, and I'd probably vote for it, but I think Cole's setup is more fair to everyone involved and more likely to bear out the fairest result.
Plus it's nice and simple. :D

We should also set this up at the beginning of the year next year and jam it in the rules. That way a guy can work his matchups for the playoffs and trade/make moves to prepare for week 16 and 17.

I'm not sure how this more simple. :tf If we split into two groups of 3 teams, then it is possible that all 3 teams from one group would score higher than the others. Under this sort of arrangement it is possible to have the highest scoring team playing against the 4th highest, leaving the 2nd highest scoring team out.

shilala 12-20-2012 09:57 AM

Re: Third Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops

You missed me, Mark. The highest scorer in the 5,7,10 group would play the highest scorer of the 6,9,8 group in week 17. Standard Tournament seeding.
I had thought the highest two scorers of the bottom 6 teams should play next week for the championship. Cole's idea just improved on that by allowing one more team in next week, and I'm good with that. Great idea.

Re: Third Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops

I guess I'm still not sure what you're saying Scott. What I think you're saying is that we would split into 2 groups of 3 teams seeded by record and then the 2 winners of those groups in week 17 would play in the final week for consolation champ.

Edit- I am also assuming you are thinking this for next year

Mark, I think the disconnect here is that you're going for what you want to do and Scott is going for what he can do based on the parameters of the website...
