PCU (1994) - Mullany - Alex Désert - scene when the president chick comes in the "pit", Mullany has what appears to be a cigar in his mouth but it isnt lit. Could be a blunt for all i know.

Cheech Marin is smoking a cigar during the opening credits in Cheech and Chongs - The Corsican Brothers (1984). Just saw it today on coffee break at work . I gotta say that this was the only one of their movies I can't take , just brutally bad .

Pork Chop Hill (1959) Gregory Peck. When one group of soldiers find another group of soldiers, one hand a cigar to another soldier. He lights it, and then they almost get hit by a mortar. In the next shot you see him looking at the destroyed cigar and toss it.

This has got to be relevant in some way...
"Close, but no cigar" is widely used to signal a near miss. The earliest instance of its use anyone has found is in the 1935 film Annie Oakley, which has the line "Close, Colonel, but no cigar!" |
