Not sure what to say, Subvet, the sky was just that way, and the sensor on the camera must be good.
"I only use Nikons", lol. Shooting at the break of dawn through sunrise might be offering benefits I can't explain.
By the way, not sure if you caught my post in the non-cigar retailers thread, that if you want to order a cigar
print, you get a free one with purchase, because you ordered prints from me before I had my 5hi+ fully together.
Not sure how well taken care of you were given that fact.

Here is a shot I gathered last night at a gig in Memphis. I rode around town trying to hit 3 separate gigs,
and the entire night was a comedy of errors, until I got to a safe haven of sorts, the Center for Southern Folklore,
where what i do is FULLY appreciated. I got poked with a cover charge at one place I used to do really nice work in helping
them publicize, so I left there instead of paying. Was at another gig that was an evening to raise funds for the NIBI Walk,
a Water project with some native Americans to renew the Ohio River. I waited 40 mins for them to start (late) and then by
the time the show started, they said "No photos, please". WTF? LOL, no skin off my nose, it just surprised me. I think they
meant no photos of the Native Ceremonies, but I didn't stick around to find out, they already had me late. but then I just
decided to go to the CFSF downtown.

Thanks Brad. The only good things about the ice storm were the photo opportunities. I have at least a couple of weekends' worth of tree damage to clean up once the snow, and ice melts a bit.

I think the manager/promoter needs to think harder about how she handles her gigs.

Fog on the water on the Caney Fork River. East Tennessee. This river is crossed by Interstate 40 5 times in just a few miles,
and I always want to stop and take photos because every crossing is photogenic. But there is always a ton of traffic
behind me or I am in a hurry to avoid falling asleep at the wheel near my destination 10 hours away. But this time it was
raining and no one was on my butt and I felt I could give it a shot.

I like the one that looks like cotton bolls.

I went out last night, speaking of cotton, on the Arkansas side of the river. A Flickr friend wanted to go out
and shoot by the river, and it had come up a good bit since last time I was out there. At first I was apprehensive,
but there was no trouble with railroad maintenance two-track roads, outside of some mud that was avoidable.

I put a texture on this which I rarely do, and turned it B&W, too....scene just called for it.

Well, when I say that my photo called out to be texturized, you can see here, that the photo and all that was before me
was basically sepia to begin with, just a tan landscape from hell.

iPhone pic of a gentleman reading and smoking up at HoC this past weekend. I felt awkward taking the pic but thought that him being backlit and pausing to look at his smoke was too good to pass up.

Not a groundbreaking pic by any means but it turned out better than I expected for a shoot-from-the-hip iphone pic. lol

Re: Photography Thread

For those of you with Nikons, and not too many lenses, you might want to pay close attention to this listing:
http://www.adorama.com/US%20%20%20%20620147.html

When I see these this cheap, I usually BUY THEM, since I can always use a fast lens on hand that I can attach
to a body for sale or other use, rain, beach, etc. ANYWAY, at $54, this is a pretty SHARP lens and at a decent
portrait focal length for a crop sensor body. I would rather have the 35mm, but it is $174 used, so I back up 4 steps.
Normally I would say these things go FAST at $54, but many times its ME that buys em. But I only learned to buy
them so fast when I would THINK about it for ten minutes and it would be gone. SO if you want a good, fast,
cheap lens, jump on it now. It is in 'Very Good" condition, which some people would pause at, but I have generally
found their V classified stock to be pretty good. Its only at G that I tend to pass, unless its a D700 for $950.
